NFL 2024: Chiefs Kingdom Targets a Three-Peat

I've seen it in the spring leagues so I'm used to it. Better than 99% of kickoffs being touchbacks.

I’d rather go back to kicking it off from the 30. This is a contact sport. Just make the special teams players where those guardian cap on kickoffs.

Well, 99% of them have a holding or illegal block in the back penalty too.

I’d be fine with starting a possession after a score on the 25 and be done with it.

Unhappy with his contract, Haason Reddick demands trade, Jets say no. He's being fined $50k per day for the last three weeks. He was acquired in a trade so he hasn't even played for the Jets.

The new kickoff rules are so stupid. On top of being needlessly complicated with the "target zone" idea, it means there can be no surprise onside kicks. Why would you take away one of the most surprising and actually-brave plays in the game?

Playing Madden 25, it is more irritating than anything. Nothing like watching players just stand there while the ball flies through the air. Half the time I forget and think the game is broken.

Probably better for McCarthy. Now the Vikings can’t rush him out day one.

The scuttlebutt is that the 49ers have offered Brandon Aiyuk a long-term deal which he hasn't agreed to, and that there's also a trade in place to send him to the Steelers if the 49ers want to do that. Supposedly the Patriots had an offer that would've made him one of the highest-paid receivers but he didn't want to go there.

Fuck him. Take your $28-30 million per year and play football.

Patriots coach Jerod Mayo's penalty for players fighting during joint practices -- if you're a starter, you have to play the full preseason game. If you're a backup, you don't see a single snap in the preseason game.

Commanders sign WR Martavis Bryant, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2018. Looks like he tried to catch on in the CFL with a couple different teams but it never happened. Was also unimpressive in one season in the XFL.

May come back to bite him in the rear.

I remember Belichick doing that for several years (late 2010's-early 2020's), putting first stringers in all the preseason games. It was a bullshit psychological power play, crushing all the other teams they went against. When, all the while said-other teams were using the preseason for its intended purpose - to field all players in order to build the best possible first-string regulation season roster.

And yeah, if you go into the season not knowing what your bench-warmers can do, it will bite you in the ass when one of your star players blows out an ACL.

Mayo's just following in Belichick's "tradition". But he's not Belichick and he doesn't have Tom Brady anymore.
