NFL 2022: The Fall of the "Immunized" Aaron Rodgers

I guess they figure they weren’t contenders after the drubbing against the Cowboys.
We weren't contenders after beating the Pats.

2nd & 5th rounders (and a 31 year old LB) for the #1 tackler? Once again we're paying most of the tab.

Our D looked like utter shit yesterday, I can't wait for next Sunday so we can make Tua look like a HoF QB.

Roquan Smith just did jack shit in a game where the defense gave up 42 points. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong in a better environment, but I have never been convinced he’s That Guy; he just lucked out by getting drafted to a fanbase of linebacker fetishists. And he made it very explicitly clear that he wants to be the top-paid linebacker in the league, which no off-ball linebacker gets; if you have no intention of paying him, then you dump him for draft capital.

Colts fire offensive coordinator Marcus Brady. Curious call when Frank Reich is the one calling the plays.

Lions trade TE TJ Hockenson, a 4th and a condition 2024 4th to the Vikings for a 2nd and 2024 3rd.

Bears send the Steelers a 2nd round pick for WR Chase Claypool. He's 2" taller and 20 pounds heavier than Alan Robinson, so at least we have a good sized WR again, tho N'Keal Harry is supposed to be in the same range.

There is also the benefit of keeping Claypool away from the Packers, who had expressed interest. Hopefully a win-win.

Good for Hockenson, but I'm struggling to see what the Lions are trying to accomplish here?

More trade deadline stuff.

Bill trade Zack Moss and a conditional 6th (which can become a 5th) to the Colts for Nyheim Hines.

Broncos trade Bradley Chubb and a 2025 5th to the Dolphins for a 1st, a 2024 4th and Chase Edmonds.

Jets trade Jacob Martin and a 5th to the Broncos for a 4th.

49ers trade Jeff Wilson the Dolphins for a 5th.

Draft capital. This season's over and the Lions now have five picks in the first 65 picks of next year's draft. Which they could use to try and go after a top QB prospect.

Don't the Lions have a lot more problems than even the best QB can fix? Starting with the Fords.

Maybe, but in a QB-driven league, you want to lock that position down if you can and then work on the rest. Goff isn't capable of elevating the team around him.

Sunday was my first in-person Lions game and I got to see his last game as a Lion, had a big catch at one point.

I think the real question that a lot of fans are asking is will Dan Campbell survive to next season? The team plays hard for him, but he makes baffling choices, like going for a long throw on a 4th & 2. The defence has regressed this year, but is that on him or on Glenn? Does the clock really start ticking until he gets a QB instead of Goff? I never played football myself, but can the head coach be a glorified cheerleader and pick good coordinators to run the nuts & bolts (which sounds like a horrible strategy as I type it out).

To the draft question, it looks like we're going to end up with a top five pick, if not number one, so take the franchise QB and then pick the best defensive athletes to fill holes.

Detroit is going to have to out-lose the Texans for that top pick, a tall order. Texans get destroyed on Thursday night to start the next week of the NFL.
