Tony Romo has a broken bone in his back, but Jason Garrett doesn't think it will cost him the entire season. Is Garrett the Dusty Baker of the NFL?

I hope the Cowboys drafted or traded for a decent back-up QB. Romo needs "Fragile-Handle With Care" stamped on him.

I'm not a Cowboys fan (Packers) but I live in Dallas. I don't watch pre-season football but from what I've heard around town and on the news Dak Prescott looked more than just decent. In fact most people seem to be jumping off the Romo bandwagon (even before his injury) and onto Prescott's. Cowboys fans get overly excited about what happens in the pre-season though, unless they lose, then it "doesn't matter". But win a few and they're trying to book hotel rooms in advance for the SB host city. Who knows, maybe he'll be good. As I said I haven't been watching (aside from a few of his highlights on the news) but I'm betting he's better than Kitna or Weeden.

The Cowboys are "America's Team". As a result, they are the trendy pick every year to make the playoffs. Usually, the poor fans get their hope up and the team goes 8-8. I think this year is a wash for them but, if Prescott develops into what they say he will, they'll be back in the playoffs as early as next year.

Yeah, I think the sports media have a lot to do with getting their hopes up. Even the years the Cowboys are terrible and they have no hope they'll blow sunshine up Cowboys fans butts because they're such a large demographic. And because they're a large demographic they need to talk about them a lot on ESPN and the like, so they have to try and pretend like there's a reason to talk about them even when they're inconsequential. And the local media are obviously homers, like most, but they're truly hilarious. I remember back in the 2011 season the Cowboys had just beaten the Rams the week before (the season the Rams went 2-14 and had yet to win a game that season) and I was watching the news where they were talking about the upcoming game against somebody. The sportscaster said something to the effect of "The Cowboys have to be feeling good after beating a tough Rams team last week", I actually shot beer out of my nose.

Has anybody been in AT&T Stadium before? That thing is a joke. I went to a Stones concert in that thing and it's even more massive than you'd imagine. The nosebleed seats are so high up that I wouldn't be surprised if nosebleeds isn't just an expression. You have to be a real sucker and have your own sherpa to get seats up there. I sprung for good seats but I was getting vertigo just looking up there. Some of my friends didn't though and they had a terrible time. I saw some of the pictures they took from up there and it was hilarious, the stage was just a bright light off in the distance with some little dots on it.

I went there in 2013 to a 4:30 game against the Broncos with the doors open. There were some really cool pictures taken that day with the way the sun was hitting the playing surface. I had a good time and the Cowboys didn't even win. Probably wouldn't want to watch a concert from up there though.

No you wouldn't, and they didn't even have the big screen on. I don't know if Jerruh wouldn't let them use it or what the deal was. I didn't need it from my seats but those in the nosebleeds did. The Stones brought a screen with them but it apparently wasn't enough because I heard complaints that wasn't even visible from up there. And judging from a bootleg I heard that was taped from up there the sound sucked too.

The Vikings traded a first-rounder and a conditional pick for Sam Bradford.

I think the NFL needs to expand its drug testing policy to include front offices.

Colts fan checking in. First game of the season is against the Lions. Won each of the last 3 (at least) meetings, but the Lions have been steadily pulling the score closer with each successive game. Could this be the ye- nope. Not gonna go there.

I think it's time to re-try that experiment of having games without commentators.

But even though I'm a Packers fan it's nice to watch a game where the commentators are obviously biased against them instead of fawning over Green Bay and calling Rodgers the greatest quarterback to walk the Earth.

Collinsworth and Michaels talk about how tired they are of Deflategate and how boring the whole thing is, then talk about it for 5 minutes straight.
