Yeah, Washington is a hot mess, although they played better against Miami than most people expected.

The Rams shut them out in Washington the last time we played. All those RG3 draft picks paid off nicely. Certainly hoping for a repeat this Sunday. Fingers crossed.

:techman:

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

^^^ Heh, I remember when your 3 guys came out on the field for the coin toss last season. I've been a Skins fan since '82, and even I thought that was a brilliant FU to the Skins, to show us the picks we stupidly gave up for Griffin, but more especially a big middle finger to our Dear Leader Mr. Daniel Snyder, the little troll that he is. I listened on the radio the following Monday morning going into work and people were just starting to realize what the Rams did. As you can imagine, the reactions were mixed here in DC, but a surprisingly larger-than-expected number (myself included) thought it was quite amusing and equally apropos. That's how fed up we all are with the horrid decades of mismanagement of our beloved team.

I, too, was quite impressed at their effort on Sunday, despite the loss. They do seem to play with a stronger cohesiveness with Cousins than they ever had with RGIII since his rookie season. Even Colt McCoy looked pretty good in the pre-season. My biggest concern is the rotating flow of injuries. We just can't ever seem to get healthy enough to field a 1st-rung roster consistently. Hopefully this Sunday won't be as bad as the last time our two teams met (for us). I still expect a loss, but not a goose-egg. ;)

Well the entire league thanks you for introducing the way to deal with the Dolphins new front 4 - cut blocking! Yay!

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

I can't be sure if it was a new strategy (which worked, for the most part) or if they were just gunning for Ndamukong Suh the entire time, who has had a history of being super-dirty on the field and the other O-linemen just got in their way. ;)

Another night of time management insanity, this time by the Chiefs.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

I was at the Bears/Lions game in 2002 in Champaign when Marty Mornhinweg elected to kick in overtime and the Bears quickly kicked a field goal won the game. It's certainly the dumbest coaching decision I've ever seen in person. At the stadium we actually thought the Bears won the toss.

Now I imagine people attending this game have a 'dumbest thing' game.

It's certainly the dumbest coaching decision I've ever seen in person.

For me, it was when Lovie Smith attempted to call consecutive timeouts in a game against the Packers a few years ago (he challenged a play that was very, very clearly not going to go the Bears' way, then after the Bears were docked the timeout, Lovie called another one, which is an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty).

I remember that.

I think Lovie was probably 2-863 when it came to challenges as Bears coach.

I am sure it was strategic, as it went along with a lot of misdirection running plays to exploit the D-Line's incredible speed.

Fortunately the Dolphins adjusted and started rotating linemen and the Redskins remembered they were the Redskins and let a close game slip away...

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

The Bears losing to Green Bay last week was no surprise.

Losing 48-23 to the Cardinals this week....not really a surprise either.

They're looking just like last year's team.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Steelers looking good today. Defense flying to the ball. Brown is in uncoverable.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Good Lord the Rams looked terrible today.

How do you beat the Seahawks and then get your asses kicked by Washington?????

:scream:

Who could possibly have imagined that having a 33-year-old Jared Allen, who was already clearly running out of gas last year at defensive end, attempt to learn how to play outside linebacker was a bad idea?

I am utterly shocked.

Edit: I mean, c'mon, they allowed the most points in team history last year, and the coaches decide that flipping to a 3-4 and keeping much of the same personnel is a brilliant idea. Hurr.

The announcers were saying how obviously bad Allen was in the 2 point stance vs. the 3 point stance as far as rushing.

Then add what you're saying about his age. Not a good fit.

Clearly another year or two of drafting and signing players who actually fit the 3-4 is necessary.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Clearly another year or two of drafting and signing players who actually fit the 3-4 is necessary.

And the problem is the person making those decisions is Ryan Pace, and anyone who looked at the Saints' player development the past few seasons and said "Boy, I gotta get me some of that" (read: George McCaskey and Ted Phillips) deserves exactly what they get.

The most maddening part of this whole thing is that the GM job was Chris Ballard's (and he would have brought Toub back as head coach), except in his final interview he essentially told Phillips that he was a complete fuck-up, that his meddling was hurting the team, and his first order of business would be to demand that Phillips' role in football operations be severely limited. So the Bears went to Pace, who brought in Fox, who immediately said, "DAMN THE TORPEDOES, 3-4 AHEAD!" :sigh:

This Dallas/Philly game is ridiculous.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Romo most likely out for the season. I'll be drinking everything in the house if you need me. I hate everything.

I'd just like to point out that Murray had 13 touches for 2 yards. His season total is now 11 yards.
