NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? What?

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Like the Rex Ryan teams that want to be all 'ground and pound' with a shitty pass. Well, you get 8 or more in the box, go nuts. Star players will sometimes beat it anyway, but gotta tip your hat there, most won't, or will fail eventually.

Teams. Any get away from what they think they excel at, to their detriment. Bill is successful at being adaptable more than anything, and not falling in love with a style or a play. Brady was at his worst when he got away from that and tried to force everything to Moss and Welker. Still suffers occasionally from Gronk Addiction, but not to the exclusion of all else.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...headset-suspicion-game-vs-pittsburgh-steelers

Plus side: NFL actually came out pretty quickly and squashed this, saying that Patriots have nothing to do with this system, shit happens. No one wanted to go as far as to imply that when people say this shit happens at Foxboro all the time, maybe there IS an electrical/interference design issue responsible, but they are going to look at it at least.

Down side: Despite being cleared, this is going right on the list of "shit the Patriots do", and will no doubt be brought up again next time someone writes a story, and it will default back to being a fact vice a dumb accusation. It'll go on the list with the illegal legal formation and the bugs no one has ever found despite the Colts always checking.

That Tomlin and the Steelers went as far as they did ( right up to the line, said everything but explicitly the Pats were cheating, implied it for sure) shows Goodell is losing control of the league. Can you really have the head coach and official organization webpage calling out other teams like this? Kinda goes to integrity of the game and whatnot, no? In a more well-run organization, this stays more in house, and gets commented on AFTER you find someone had something to do with it. In the NFL, they went batshit crazy with accusations of cheating, and THEN walked it back a little when told the Pats had nothing to do with it. You get fined for saying the Ref made a bad call after the game, but this will apparently go without further comment. Because, you know, the Pats were up to SOMETHING, even if we can't prove it ;)

Fantastic news. I'm glad we can all move on now.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Wow, Colts look like shit, and/or Bills look amazing on defense so far. Good game

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Holy crap!

The Rams tried to give me a stroke today. WTF??

Giving up 18 straight points in the 4th quarter...

:scream:

We definitely have some things to work out, but what an exciting first win of the season. Stuffing Lynch on 4th and 1... just freaking beautiful.

:techman:

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Romo put the Cowboys on his back in the 4th quarter. Receivers betrayed him through most of the game. Tom Coughlin is going to have a rough press conference explaining that goal line call. That was beyond stupid.

Update: Dez out for 4 to 6 weeks as well as Randy Gregory. Costly win.

What a finish!

Why on Earth didn't the Giants run the ball at the end??

I enjoyed that Seahawks had a 4th and 1, ran the ball, and didn't get the yard. Maybe he would have scored in the Superbowl, but maybe not. Turns out the defense gets a vote too...

Well the Dolphins tried very hard to lose an easily winnable game, but finally woke up in the second half. Still frustrated at Tannehill's inability to make a decent throw that is longer than 20 yards, and they need to figure out how to handle every single opponent cut-blocking their DL, but it felt like a major improvement over last year. I was pleasantly surprised to see Greg Jennings in the mix. He has always been a favorite of mine, and its nice to see him remain productive.

As a Seahawks fan, yesterday's game was a heart breaker. How do you go from an 18 point 4th quarter to losing?!

Yeah, and I think all the 'He should have handed it off to Marshawn!' arguments seem a little moot. It may have worked with the Patriots defense, but likely not.

On the plus side, he won't take crap for the onsides kick to start OT. He can just say "Hey, not like it's the worst call I've ever made!"

Although held them to a FG there, so not devastating, but if they could have gotten punt, maybe had good field position and set up a better chance to win on their own later.

Does this help Cam get his money?

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

The Rams put 34 points on that defense, I think yesterday couldn't have gone any better for Kam Chancellor.

The McCown helicopter was the play of the day for me yesterday. :techman:

Stat of the day. Demarco Murray and Ryan Mathews combined for 13 yards rushing tonight...against Atlanta. Bradford threw 52 passes. Jesus.

So, NFL is allowing the reinstatement of the two guys from the deflated football nonsense on the Patriots. Although I don't understand why they get a vote, when they backpedaled and claimed they didn't ask them to be suspended in the first place, but anyway...

If the NFL is so positive these two guys were running an illegal scheme to cheat, to the point they've spent an estimated 20M so far trying to prove it, fined the team 1M, took away 2 draft picks, and went after one of the faces of the league, WHY are they allowed back, again? I'd think even with everything else, I'd insist on them being done, no?

Hell, this equates to a 1-game suspension. They're still fighting to get 4 for Brady for being 'generally aware', but totally caved after 1 for the guys that actually DID IT (from their perspective, I still don't buy that anything actually happened outside of playing in the rain).

Odd look for the NFL here, I don't get it. Like they're admitting they've got nothing, but they are still going through the courts, keeping the money and picks, etc.

The 49ers uniforms were hideous!

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

So what are the odds for Mariota being awarded Rookie of the Year? 1 to 1? 5 to 2?

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

1/16th of the way into the regular season, little early to hand out hardware. If you're laying those odds, I'll take the field. He lays an egg game 2, whole new discussion.

At this point, Jets will go undefeated and score almost 500 points this year. Wanna bank on it?

Mariota tosses 64 touchdowns and wins every game, imagine he'll win ROY, MVP, Superbowl MVP, and instant HOF consideration :)

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Seeing as Cleveland secondary got sliced and diced by the Jets of all people, I think Mariota's chances of having a good second game are pretty decent. Of course I am also hoping he does well because I have him as trade bait in two of my 4 fantasy leagues. LOL.
