NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? What?

I'll root for either of them happily if they can take down the Patriots. If, however, the Pats are knocked out at the AFC championship, I won't have a dog in the fight.

After having Roger dodge the Pats all season (Commish really didn't want to go to opening night?), I think it would hilariously awkward to watch him have to hand the trophy to Kraft or Brady. Not sure if they even talk/acknowledge him, or just take it and turn away. Either way, I'd like to watch him squirm. Next phase of the lawsuit is right around the same time, so he'd have to do that while still actively suing them over something he still doesn't understand. Wonder if they'll release the PSI numbers they collected all year? Since there's no way they back up the NFL's point, guessing they stay confidential. You know, for reasons unrelated to them proving the NFL horribly wrong.

Bets on whether he goes to the AFC or NFC Championship game? ;)

By the way - Peyton is a TERRIBLE quarterback. The Broncos ride the defense and that running game. The Pats will slice and dice them.

I am sure what you meant was "Peyton Manning is one the best QB's to ever play the game, but his skills have diminished with age, and he does not look the same as in his prime."
;):p

I think you're right. Denver's defense is the real star now, and the Broncos will struggle mightily to outscore the Patriots.

Y'know, as much as I would love to see the Pats loose, this would be some satisfying shit right here!

It didn't help that there were about a dozen drops in that game against Pittsburgh. Yeah, a lot of Manning's passes were wounded ducks, but they've looked that way for a few years; that's nothing new.

If I throw you a wobbly pass, did you drop it or did I make it harder to catch? Maybe some were one, some were the other, but not like he was throwing bullets and the WRs were dodging them. Especially with wind conditions and cold, drops are going to go up unless the throw is perfect and the WR is on his game. Can't argue with Peyton being one of the best ever (top 10-ish?), but he's certainly on the back 9, possibly chipping on the 18th hole at the moment.

This bit is facinating:

I'm sure it won't have enough info to draw real conclusions, or most of the random data will be from 75-degree games or something, but shocked that they are going to release anything at all. How do you put out something like this while suing someone for tampering with the balls, when the underlying math says without doubt that this happens naturally? Is the argument going to be that the random testing resulted in 11.3 PSI balls, but we found a Pats' ball that was 11.1, so must have cheated somehow? I just don't get how releasing this can possibly help them. And for sure this won't coincide with dropping the suit or giving back the draft picks and money, so what's the thought process?

They've fully acknowledged the issue, as they announced a plan before the Minnesota game to keep the balls inside as long as possible, keep the backup balls warm inside until halftime, and then bring the replacements out to use right before the 2nd half starts. Why do that if they think they'd be fully legal over on the sidelines? Just a huge disconnect in logic there somewhere, but they've gone too far to back down, I guess...

The drops really killed them, but more than a few drops were from the balls being in the wrong place - slightly behind, slightly high, a little too fast, a little too slow. I realize that millionaire receivers ought to catch the dang ball, but watching someone like Brady place the ball in the EXACT spot the receiver needs it to be, at the EXACT speed the receiver needs for it to travel, and in the EXACT spot that makes it hard for the defender to adjust is a marvel. Especially because ol' Tom has been doing it for a million years.

Peyton is in my mind a top five all time QB, and his name won't come off the record books for at least 10 years or so when "Cam Newton" replaces it, but he hasn't been the QB we all know and love for some time.

I bet he goes to the NFC. That would be interesting to see him have to hand the trophy to Brady though.

I expect the Panthers to win the SB, but I'm not happy about it. I mean, they're playing well and I respect that, but something about them (especially Newton) just reeks of classlessness. The guys are arrogant in a way that's fairly off-putting.

If the field hadn't been crap I think the Seahawks would have beat them. The first play threw them off a step, and it happened because they were slipping all over the place.

Word is the Seahawks have volunteered some equipment advice to the Cardinals.....

Unfortunately, that describes the majority of players these days. The celebrations just get on my nerves. How many times do you see a guy make a tackle after a 5 yard GAIN and celebrate like he just won the Super Bowl? Gimme a break. :angryrazz:

^Yes. Can you imagine baseball players doing that after making a double or stealing third base?

^ I can't recall seeing any player celebrating excessively after making a tackle after a five yard gain. But I have on occasion thought some of the sack celebrations are silly. As for baseball, to be fair, it is a sport that requires MUCH less emotion so pretty much any celebration for anything less than at least a homerun would seem bizarre.
As for Cam Newton, I thought he was real arrogant coming into the league and I was fully prepared to see him fail. But so far he has lived up to his own hype so he gets a pass from me for arrogance. Nothing irritates me more than arrogance like arrogance with no accomplishments. I don't mind a little arrogance from the truly great.

Long game for Brady. They have been getting to him a lot. Turned off the tv early in the second quarter. Just turned the game back on.

Ouch. Denver D-line just had their way with the O-line all game. And Brady didn't look too sharp even when not hit. Didn't wake up until the last 5 min or so. That missed PAT ended up being a killer.

Oh well, can't say denver's d didn't deserve that one. See how that play against the NFC in a couple weeks...

Yeah, the story today was Denver's defense. They played incredibly well.

Good game.

I hope Mr. Manning actually wins. I'd like to see him win SB50 and retire while he can still enjoy it. I don't want to see him get badly hurt and play another season.
