NFL 2014-2015 Season Discussion

aaaaaand, this Sunday's Chicago Bears starting QB is.....Jimmy Clausen.

Is this the definition of "too little too late"?

Cutler is on the brink of breaking several Bears single-season passing records, and they're putting fucking Pickles out there.

The offensive line will have five false starts and the secondary is going to get torched worse than Godzilla destroyed Tokyo, and there will still be chowderheads looking for ways to blame Cutler.

^It really is amazing how much the media affects the perception of certain players; to listen to the talking heads at ESPN, one would think that Cutler's the worst QB in the league, when in fact he's actually having a good season statistically. Everyone who's saying he was so much better last season apparently doesn't know that his numbers this season are actually better, save for his eighteen picks.

But everyone says Cutler sucks, so it must be true.

I've said it before, but it really just illustrates how much a player's handling of the media matters. Ray Lewis was literally involved with a double murder and almost certainly destroyed evidence, but he had the best PR handlers in the world and was hailed as a hero for the ages when he retired. Jay Cutler doesn't give a shit and has no problem telling you he doesn't give a shit, and he's treated as though he's worse than Hitler.

So Jimmy Clausen is still a person in the NFL.

He's in a tough spot.

You could say he's in a real pickle....

Many of those who work in the sports media realize that they are getting shitty pay and working shitty hours, but it's ok because they have ACCESS (cue angels singing) and INSIDER KNOWLEDGE (more angels) and most importantly have the POWER (baby angels singing) to ruin someones reputation and life, and they assume that every athlete they interact with will understand the way the system works. So when they run into someone like Jay, who doesn't care, well their entire world comes crashing down, and the one who has destroyed that world must pay.

The Bears are starting to look like the Redskins - the coach is a blowhard (Shanny, now Gruden) and there are no real leaders, especially where you need them. Cutler? You can talk about his numbers, but he's no leader (how many coaches and coordinators has he gone through?). With all these factions on the Bears going public now with their various opinions over team issues, it's safe to say that Trestman has lost all control. And for the first time that I can really remember, the Bears have a defense that is horrible as well. Trestman almost has to go. And while I'm no fan of Cutler, I don't think Clausen is any semblance of an answer.

Ultimately, to me you blame this on ownership, like with the Redskins. I just don't think they know how to run an NFL ship, so to speak.

The Redskins certainly did Dallas a favor but I can see the stars aligning for Washington to eliminate Dallas from the playoffs next week.

Nice collapse by the Niners last night. Geez...

It should be an interesting offseason for them.

Yeah, Kaepernick has been exposed as a relatively one-dimensional quarterback, the defense needs an overhaul and I think the question now is where does Harbaugh land, not "is he going to stay?"

That is a team in transition.

^ Is that real or photoshopped? It's true either way, but some technical guy is probably in trouble today.

It's real from a Thursday night broadcast.

I rarely watch the news anymore, what with all the bumbling, bad writing and overall illiteracy. Just the other night on the local news, a reporter said this holiday travel season will be the busiest ever thanks to gas prices being at their all-time lowest.

Two minutes later, they told us that Christmas trees started 250 fires last year. I'm wondering if any arrests were made.

Well, the Bears actually led their game against Detroit for about 5 minutes and didn't get blown out.

They're makin' a move now.

^CBS NFL broadcast (Bills/Raiders) just told me what a mute point something or other would be. Jeez, guys...

Also, come on Bengals tomorrow night!

Dolphins win when it doesn't matter! Yay! Oh well. The core is there, we desperately need an OL and a DL. Oh and they need to stay healthy.

I'm not saying it's all Joe Flacco's fault.... but it's all Joe Flacco's fault.

Blame it on "The curse of Obama" with that James Flacco/Franco thing.

I said this about 3 weeks back - they need to stop deferring when they win the coin toss. The past 3 games the offence was on the field for like 5 minutes or less during the first quarter with no first downs. That's no way to establish rhythm on offence.
