Next two films may be 2-part storyline

man, i hope they go where no man has gone before instead of re-hashing anything! the two-parter thing has its ups and downs. so long as they continue with the character development we saw in this last one, i'll be happy.

hear that, guys?!? NO KAHN!!

Same here, NO KHAN.

THat said, I'm leery of a cliff-hanger. It's hard enough these days to make a decent self-contained movie. I've never seen the third Pirates of the Caribbean because the end of the second pissed me off so much.

POTC III sucked almost as much as Matrix: Revulsions did. Sad to say. :(:(

In the article it mentions how Star Trek 2, 3, and 4 all followed together and was successful. BUT, those movies had independent plots. So, we may see the next movies "flow" together but not necessarly linked by their plots.

But then again, this new guy doing Star Trek said that he is more of a Star Wars kind of person so he may follow something like Star Wars where the next two movies are the same plot.

It could be cool, but I don't know about the Ewok, though.
:guffaw:

they better NOT get any DAMNED ewoks in my star trek!! it's not like chocolate and peanut butter!

much as i like ST09, i am still a bit leery about this SW guy getting his mitts all over our stuff.

Don't we kinda have a pseudo-Ewok in Scotty's little pal?

and that better be AS FAR AS IT GOES!! what was with that, anyway? some kind of comin relief for the comic relief?? has anyone involved in the film ever said a word about what the heck was going on there?

Ugh, I hope this doesn't happen. Why can't sequels stand on their own anymore? With every big movie now they always try to follow it up with a story artificially stretched out across two movies. It didn't work for The Matrix, it didn't work for Pirates, and I'm afraid it might not work for Star Trek, either.

What would you do if they did do Khan that wouldn't be good because I have seen The Wrath Of Khan buried alive as Khan said

It will likely have more than one villain if its a two part story. We will see Khan at some point over the two movies, its inevitable. It will be much more interesting if they have several villains over the span of the two movies though. In fact you could balance it quite neatly with the exploring the unknown/nature itself is the nemesis type of story, the 'villains' could arise naturally out of the consequences of a natural event.

Cliffhangers? We already had enough cliffhanging in the last movie - Kirk hanging off the cliff in Iowa, Vulcan, the Narada... :)

If they wanna make two movies that are part of a continuous story, they'll need to film them back-to-back. Being young, these actors will be growing faster than the TOS cast did during their movie run. Look how fast that Harry Potter kid seemed to grow up between installments. If they wait two years between filming, Anton Yelchin might go through puberty in the meantime.

Of course, if they do that however, the plot for the 2nd (of the two movies) will almost certainly get leaked to the public early, unless Section 31 is running Paramount's security.

I was hoping that in this last movie they would have some form of story continuation plot point - then to of made this a really good trilogy run.
