News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Why do people go to all this effort, especially when they know subsequent events will quickly discredit them anyway?

I remember way back in the early 90s on Usenet, before the Star Wars prequels were known to be a thing, somebody posting a long, well-written description of a secret trailer for a secretly upcoming movie (it did not match the eventual films that were made years later). What is the point of this sort of thing? One can’t not know that as a result, within a few months at most everyone while know you’re a liar. It’s self-sabotage.
I get the impression that it's nothing more than a brief dopamine spike that one gets from the 15 minutes of notoriety and flood of "likes" once the "news" is posted and people start to react. The more reactions, the higher the spike. It's all about the reinforcement of their own self-worth through social media, which is what it's always ever been about to begin with - a non-chemically induced addiction.

If they're proven wrong (and they almost always are), the account is scuttled and a new one is created elsewhere, full of fresh new "insider" scoops.

Rinse and repeat...

In modern times, a high-follower account can also be sold to an unscrupulous advertiser, drop-shipper, or other not-technically-illegal business. Some rumor accounts may intend to "cash out," build up a follower base, then swap, and suddenly you've got thousands of people who thought they were subscribed to Sammy Shatner's Star Trek Secrets suddenly find themselves being advertised knock-off folding coat-hangers and the like, and some number them might actually buy one.

I've known people who would lie to your face while knowing that the truth would come out in 5-10 minutes.

Removing Kurtzman era Trek from Canon!
So much wishful thinking. Effort wise, it would be worth it. But alas your right, it's probably just B.S.

I'm gonna start making videos like this, but getting more and more unhinged. Voyager to be decanonized! Seasons 2 and 6 of Deep Space Nine! The last 10 seconds of "Best of Both Worlds" part 1 to be re-recorded by a digitally de-aged Jonathan Frakes because Skydance brass didn't like how he said "Mr Worf... fire."

With a sexy AI generated woman like those Trump-loving foot porn ones that are making strange Indian men millions. But instead of being ultra-MAGA, they're anti-Kurtzman.

I'm bloody late to everything. I could be rich.

There was one guy (maybe Doomcock?) that got some his info from 'leaks' on 4Chan, but it turned out some of those 'leaks' was just a guy planting fake info specifically for grifters like him to turn into videos.
I just assumed they made the stories up and posted them on 4Chan themselves as "evidence". It's all a grift. These guys have no sources.

The Tachyon Pulse is dependably full of horse shit.

Kurtzman is responsible for SNW; there are several hundred hours of Star Trek between 1980 and 2022 I'd rather see cut from continuity ("canon" being a piece of gibberish...)

The Tachyon Pulse is dependably full of horse shit.

Tachyon Pulse:

January/February: "Kurtzman has been fired! Yay!"

March: "Kurtzman is getting a deal, but Paramount is keeping him on a short leash."

Today (April): He's back to "Kurtzman is being fired! Yay!"

The Kama Sutra has fewer positions than Tachyon Pulse.

Now they're miffed about being called "trolls".

Can’t do that. How would one make the copious notes necessary to explain to Paramount just how badly the TINO (Trek In Name Only) diverges from true Star Trek? :shifty:
Why from the trailers and youtubers of course.

Are you creating your own talking points that require your time and attention? Well there's a better way! You can lazily regurgitate other people's agendas for a fraction of that time and effort leaving you with time to deal with the important things like removing the gender neutral bathrooms from your home and finding out if sunflowers are plotting against you.
