I really don’t understand the whole grift that is going on these days.
Hate sells. I guess people are looking for things to be mad at.

Plenty to be mad at in the world to not take it out on a TV show.
What do you mean "prematurely"?
The days of shows going on and into eternity are over. P+ is drawing a line in the sand as a cost control measure.
Five seasons is a VERY good run nowadays.
The Nielsen numbers for SNW season 3 are publicly available. While the series potentially lost almost half its viewership (or had many people rewatching seasons 1 and 2 at the beginning of season 3, distorting perceived per episode numbers), it still did well enough to initially trend in the Top Ten Original Series on Streaming.Mike Stoklasa of Red Letter Media claims in his latest half in the bag video that he heard from an inside source that the viewership of Strange New Worlds is in the tens of thousands. Like 12-14,000 views for the entire season. He was asked to clarify if he was joking and he said he didn't have to clarify anything and he doesn't know if the source is reliable.
It totally should though. We have the technology! The TV show doesn't talk back.
I really don’t understand the whole grift that is going on these days. So you don’t like a show? Big deal. There’s lots of shows I don’t like or don’t watch. Many that my wife does. But I don’t post about them online or make videos. I may jab my wife on them from time to time but I get the same from her too on my shows.
Maybe I’m just too honest of a person but fleecing an audience for money for a show you claim to hate (but continue to support) is just asinine in my brain. Just turn the fucking channel. Or get outside.

I think @BillJ is right. Hatred has become comfortable for many and the Star Trek franchise is a ripe target for a grift centered around dissatisfaction and foming that in to a financial venture. The TV show doesn't talk back. I imagine it gives a feeling of control without repercussions.
I don't know how much money they get from youtube, but let's just say not everyone is cut out for onlyfans.I really don’t understand the whole grift that is going on these days. The plan WAS to do a streaming movie to end SNW after S4 The producers said they couldn't do a decent wrap up in just a 2 hour streaming film: so they worked with Kurtzman and Paramount and the cast and got the 6 episode 5th season instead.Dumb. Even for Mike. If there were only 12-14k viewers, it wouldn’t have gotten its final (albeit shortened) season. Maybe a movie.
Like old leather.Hatred has become comfortable for many
Well, on the one hand you'd expect virtuous Star Trek characters, aka the Great and the Good, to care about the history of spaceflight. But on the other, you'd also expect them to detest the whole idea of free speech, like all Virtuous people. What to do, what to do?More reason to retcon the musk references in Discovery

Just the fact that you quoted Stephen Miller, who wants an almost 100 year old man to take over Star Trek (which has zero chance of ever happening and is quite frankly laughable), and then quoting Elon Musk whose opinion about Star Trek is completely meaningless, gave me quite the chuckle this morning. Thanks for brightening my day.
Shining a spotlight on the abysmal state of Star Trek by people like Musk and Miller and thus putting a little bit of pressure on Paramount and David Ellison is a good thing.
The comment about giving Shatner control of Star Trek is, of course, hyperbolic. It's about advocating for change.
Stephen Miller is a fan of classic Star Trek. I think he cares.
