News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Shows you how much I know. Which is to say, all I know is a thread-title to the effect of its being called off.

I just took a very brief look at the Wikipedia article on the merger. The part of the Paramount timeline covering the past 31 years made my head spin.

The best thing to ever come out of the existence of cosmic book news was this review on another site entirely of their review (that's right, a review of a review) of the first Captain Marvel titled "Nick Fury is Shown Washing Dishes: The Top 5 Male-Bashing Elements in Captain Marvel According to Some Dingus."

Who cares if Fury is washing the dishes?

I'm not dignifying it with a click but ugh can I not stand the whole thing of "oh, it's make bashing to show them doing domestic work." or whatever nonsense is peddled that then gets lobbed at Christians or conservatives as some sort of condemnation of a whole group of people.

Sincerely,
A conservative male who does dishes.

. . .

A conservative male who does dishes.
Until I read the review you quoted @Turtletrekker as citing, I thought the headline to the general effect of Trump making Star Trek great again was a sarcastic irony. Uh, I guess not.

Sincerely,
Someone far more Christian than any "Christian Nationalist." Who also does dishes.

In more reliable but only semi-confirmed news, WhatCulture/TrekCulture is pointing out that the official SkyShowTime Netherlands Facebook page has stated (in a reply to a comment) that Strange New Worlds season 3 comes out there in August 1. TrekCulture gives this the appropriate grain of salt for what this means for other countries, but the comment hasn't been deleted, and historically it airs there the day after it airs in the U.S., so that could mean it's premiering July 31, 2025.

I've verified the comment myself. My attempts to get a working direct link to it haven't worked great (thanks, Facebook), but try this link if you want. It's on a Section 31 post.

Dus nog even geduld! 😍

Google Translate says:
User comment: When do you have Lower Decks? And when is a new season of Strange New Worlds coming?

SkyShowtime reply: That's a good question. You're a real Star Trek fan from what I read! Nothing is known about Lower Decks (yet), but season 3 of Strange New Worlds will be online on August 1st. So please be patient! 😍

SkyShowtime has told TrekCulture "The premiere date for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S3 was given to one of our members in error and is incorrect. Apologies for the inconvenience caused. We share your excitement and can't wait for the 3rd season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to premiere."

TrekCulture has appropriately publicized this via their social media, including the following links (which all say the same thing, so pick your poison):

We Got This Covered are another one absolutely nobody should ever visit. I remember they kept running articles insisting SNW was being called Star Trek: Enterprise for no reason.

Going back a few years now they used to post many articles about how Legends of Tomorrow was cancelled each and every year. After 7 cycles of that they were eventually right by coincidence.

Interesting. Back in the months prior to SNW being officially announced, we had a poster here claiming to be an insider saying the exact same thing. I guess now we know what his source was.

Whatever Mulgrew said on the cruise, for TrekTalks she said regarding coming back as Janeway in live-action (just a minute ago as I type this):

"That's been discussed a lot [...] We're still discussing it."

A bit vague as to who "we" is, so take from that what you will. It does sound like she means talks with Secret Hideout, but it's not completely unambiguous.

EDIT:
I'd give a time code, but it's tricky on livestream. Looks like about eight hours into the video, though I think the beginning will be cropped off in the final version. I guess just look for Mulgrew and Picardo and listen through.

EDIT #2:
There were some comments in the livestream re: "Star Trek: Janeway", so you can use that to narrow it down in the final video. Find those and back up a bit.

"That's been discussed a lot [...] We're still discussing it."

Going by what I heard her say on the cruise, I believe she is still pandering to her fanbase without any real substantive acknowledgement that she's actually talking to Paramount/CBS, or that they are actually talking to her, about making an actual show about Janeway.
