News? Stories from Dubious Sources

I demand it!

I won't be buying the blu-rays. But when I watch the reruns on TV I want it to be HD.

Holy hell, there's the text book definition of "dubious source."
He did have a few weeks advance story knowledge of a DSC Season 3 two parter, so he might have some friends in CBS or the production, or just friends in the press.

I guess there's a lot of ways he could have gotten that knowledge so that doesn't really mean anything.

A lot of the fan upscaling efforts are limited by the source material - which is heavily compressed DVDs. A modern upscale and encoding from the original master tapes would make the show look an awful lot better, and probably good enough for streaming. It won't ever be full HD though. I probably wouldn't buy Blu-rays of an upscaled show but I'd happily stream it.

Star Trek canon has been destroyed so often that red shirts feel sorry for its odds of survival according to the Internet.

It’s 2021. We have more productions in the works than has ever been seen in franchise history.

And according to internet uncles the world over, Star Trek has never been deader.

Pretty sure talk of buying the site even as a joke is a big no-no. Just sayin'.

Yeah, plus there's no way this site is going for $1600. Maybe if you add a zero to that, but likely not even then. It's the historically surviving main forum for one of the tentpole science fiction franchises.

GoDaddy really lowballs the estimate by an order of magnitude or two.

it's good to know that Chris Pine is a big fan of The Vulcan Reporter, I'll keep that in mind!

While I agree that Patel probably isn't attached to the project, you seem pretty certain of the fact that we aren't getting a Khan series? I guess we'll see. All I know is, I reported in August that a Khan series is back in play, and a month later Robert Meyer Burnett confirms this news with additional info on the project.

Weren’t you the guy who claimed that they were going to make a CGI Old Prime Spock for DSC season 3, and posted a screencap of where he would be used (which turned out to be a scene from Burnham and Adira’s Trill experience?)

Yeah, I won’t be using you as a primary source any time soon. You, or that Burnett guy.

Spock appearance happened, don't you remember? It wasn't newly recorded though.

Yeah, trouble is you specifically said you weren't talking about use of archive footage, so this isn't really a point in favor of your credibility.

The crossover was supposed to be Michael Burnham meeting Nimoy Spock (the one that we saw in the Kelvin movies). They planned to have a body do the acting, with their head being CGI'd into Leonard Nimoy's face.

What I specifically heard is that a Spock from the Kelvin timeline with Nimoy's face will be interacting with Burnham. It can't be a past recording, because the scene is being made by having a body double film the scene with Sonequa Martin-Green, and Nimoy's face will be CGI'd on.
