News? Stories from Dubious Sources

I have my doubts about Section 31 ever getting made.

Yeah I have my doubts too, not because I'm against a Section 31 show or anything (I'd probably just wouldn't watch it if it was made), but it just seems like a project that is likely to fall into development hell, maybe because execs might be worried that it differs to much from the format the brand is famous for and Section 31 wouldn't be recognizable enough to draw in an audience.
And I'd say the same about an unusual Star Trek show I'd actually like to see, such one set on a colony.

If they make at least one season of LD and SNW that has at least one great episode (and a few good ones), I'll be happy and I couldn't care less about 31 ;)

I'm still hoping for a West Wing kind of show, set during the birth of the Federation in the 22nd centrury.
This type of prequel piques my interest.

Another one I would've liked is one that takes place immediately post-2063. Watching the world come to grips with contact with alien life. Some would embrace it, some would try repress knowledge of it or say it was a hoax. Watching different nations try to compete for favor from the Vulcans. And watching other nations being arrogant enough to think they could attack Vulcans on Earth and steal their technology. There all kinds of things you do on a Star Trek show that takes place in the late-21st Century.

Double-Post (on further thought): The only problem with my idea of having a series that takes place in 2063 is that the near-future is always tricky to depict. It could become dated quickly and in more serious ways. And since it would be so close to "our world" that it might as well effectively be our world, we're dealing with how other nations, real nations, would treat the Vulcans. So the series would have a much higher chance of offending overseas markets. "That's not how we'd treat Vulcans in the United Kingdom!" or "So, do you really think this is how the Russians would treat the Vulcans?" Or they'd depict how Democrats and Republicans would react, which opens up a whole other can of worms...

... so nix my Post-FC/2063 Series idea. It sounds better to me in theory than it would actually work in practice.

Who says the Democrat and Republican parties would survive World War III? ;) Especially in their current forms?
Is there even a in-canon statement that suggests the US (or any other current nation) re-consolidated into a single nation between World War III and the unification of Earth?

The story is always the same and has been so since at least the production of Beyond. One would think these guys would give up eventually. Alas...

I understand The Good Fight is having the same problem, CBSAA is thinking of cancelling them because that Diane Lockhart merchandise just isn't jumping off of the shelf. They are having much more success with the NCIS replica body bags.

Just think, when the day comes that Disco does end, these fools will suddenly bask in it proclaiming "we were right all along." Well, yeah. You were right in the same way a broken clock is right.

They should really decide if DSC/SNW/LDS etc. has been cancelled forever because of their abysmal ratings and non-existent merchandise sales or if they keep being produced because CBS doesn't want to admit failure and decided to cover up the fact that fans want to return to the TrueCanonTM. Some doubleplusgood doublethink here, Big Brother would be proud.

The stories that some people spread to make themselves feel better, sort of like a remote group hug across the internet.

Does anyone remember that Facebook account that was setup insisting that the Kelvin Enterprise was no bigger than the original.

Good times.

Which is why I don't use or go near, 4chan, Twitter or Facebook as they are all hearsay bullshit factories.

CBS will move forward with SNW as they know they are on to a potential winner with Mount/Romijn/Peck, what they will do in regards to merchandising is hard to say at this point.

At the very least we will get a model of the Enterprise from what we saw in Discovery or can expect to see in SNW.

Normally I just leave them be, eventually they will start talking themselves around in circles, become dizzy and fall over.

They probably think if they say it enough times it will become true, yet it never does.
