News? Stories from Dubious Sources

I don't think that they will change Captain James T. Kirk into a female.
I do see he has a sister and she also a captain, command her own starship.
By the way, all star trek series and movies, including Star Trek Picard and Star Trek Discovery are now on Pluto TV Sci-Fi channel, call Star Trek United from 10pm too 1am or 1:30 am.

Kirk doesn’t have a sister. Not one that we know about, anyway.

I know the use of the picture means nothing, but seeing the picture from TAS in the article made me think maybe we could be getting a sort of updated TAS. Which would be cool.

Awfully quiet with regards to Section 31 and Prodigy (or whatever the Nickelodeon series is called). I haven't seen a Kurtzman interview for a long time. I guess we have to wait for that virtual comic-con event.

I think they want to have one series in the spotlight at a time. Lower Decks is the flavor of the month right now.

Given the cooties going around right now, it's not much of a surprise that there would be no new news. eventually there will be more, snippets of new mixed in with what everyone has known since the dawn of time, to buoy interest.

Otherwise, what @Lord Garth said, which makes sense either way and even if there weren't the cooties going around.

The teaser makes me think otherwise. TAS was direct and continual continuity from TOS, doing things the live action original could not do, and is surprisingly free of what one might expect from a cartoon (e.g. "must be ha-ha funny because it's a bunch of drawings animated at 24 of those per second for 22 minutes"). LD is not a direct continuation of any spinoff and is sold as a partial parody - taking place in the same universe but in a different light. TBH who would really want to see "TNG in animated form" anyway?

Like anything else in entertainment, depends on how it is done. I was lukewarm to Discovery and thought Picard was going to be a grand slam before they started, neither ended up satisfying my Trek itch.

That's nice. But my post you quoted wasn't about Lower Decks at all. It was about a hypothetical third animated series rumoured to be in development, which The Habs Fan posted about here:
Third animated series in development: Star Trek Adventures

https://www.thecinemaspot.com/2020/07/01/exclusive-new-star-trek-adventures-animated-series/

Dubious source though which is why I posted it in this thread
Since the article in that link has a picture from TAS, it made me think of a modernized TAS and how that's something I would like to see. So your thoughts on Lower Decks are completely irrelevant to the point I was making entirely.

And really, given the Lower Decks trailer only just leaked yesterday, why would you quote a post from eleven days ago to go on about it?

The franchise has been stuck in the past for a good fifteen years. Why stop now?
I meant stuck in the past design wise. Picard and DSC aren't stuck design wise, they changed things up.

Even Lower Decks is changing things up to a degree, new ship designs, new uniforms, though they look like close evolutions of TNG designs.

I meant stuck in the past design wise, not story. Picard and DSC aren't stuck design wise, they changed things up.

Picard was very visually identifiable as TNG, Discovery moved more towards past designs in season two. Which I imagine will translate to a more identifiable visual identity for Strange New Worlds and, as we see, Lower Decks.
