New Zealand will be to blame for putting England out of the World Cup

So, New Zealand qualify for the 2010 World Cup Final's beating Bahrain 1.0.

I can already see what will happen and England will be in the same group as NZ and have to beat NZ 4.0 in their last group game to qualify for the knock out stages. NZ only concede 2 goals thus putting England out.

And I'll be an Englishman living in NZ.....don't tell me it won't happen like this, because it bloody well will, it always does.

I'm gutted.

Now that may be a bit of a stretch, but I will not be surprised in the slightest if it goes exactly as you predict.

(BTW - I think we'll get to the knockout stage. But will we win it? Will we bollocks...)

Actually, I care little about football, but quite a few members of my family are enthusiastic about it. :lol:

I promise you this will happen. I'm living here, an Englishman abroad, the irony inherent of such a happening will be too strong for our God's to ignore.

I may boycott the World Cup now and put out a message that I have no interest in football and that it's a games for poof's all the while though I'm dying inside.

Haha, for sure. New Zealand will be the likable underdog everybody wants to win, but who fails anyway. Ireland just plain sucks in football. (just like England, although England is also fucking arrogant about it and completely oblivious of the degree of their suckitude). :D

Hey, I love England and the English, and I also love the way the English behave in regards to their national football team. It's so cute that every time again you think you have a chance to win, only to get your hopes shattered in the most humiliating ways. It's like you're deliberately hurting yourselves. :D

[that's the advantage of coming from a country that has a football team nobody puts any hope in, because we're used to losing anyway and a victory against countries like Liechtenstein or Lithuania is a success already ;)]

I can remember Austria beating England 4-3 in 1977ish.....can you remember that game? Look at the You Tube link on my OP, it deals with the very issues you raise.

Yeah, the 1978 world cup was the last great success for Austrian football, because the Austrian team kicked out the Germans. :lol:

Oh, I never expect us to win the World Cup - I always expect us to go out on penalties at some point. We're good at that!

A friend of mine is an immigration officer and he retired recently. He told me a story about when he first joined the job in 1966 and was posted to Heathrow Airport.

He was a fluent German speaker and these were the days before EU citizens could come and go as they pleased and this German bloke approaches his desk and presents his passport to my officer friend.

In fluent German my friend asks him how long he is in the UK for and what it is he will do while there.

The German chap replies in his best English that he is here for a week and that he is in the UK to watch his national team beat the English national team at the English national sport in the World Cup Final.

My friend replies that's fine because we've beaten you at your national sport twice in the last 40 years !!

German man not very happy !!!
