New Voyages-"World Enough"

newvoyages.com has the stream from magictimeonline but it was down last time I checked. The link above should work

I've always liked New Voyages taken for what it is, a fan production, but I'll just echo the other comments that this episode really did feel like a real episode of Star Trek! I cannot heap enough praise on the production staff and actors.

Very, very well done Mr. Cawley & Co.

Best one yet. Takei and Moses show what real actors (no offense) can do to elevate the production value of these efforts.

Loved it, best one yet. It felt like I was watching an episode of TOS.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who can sit back and enjoy *new people* in the roles of Kirk, Spock and McCoy as well as Sulu and all the others.

That transition for the future to the past was spot on wonderful!

Great show! Once again, the production values far outshine the acting, but the principals did a good job, regardless, and the story was actually quite good - every bit as good as many of the OS stories.

And I'm in love with Christina Moses! Not only is she gorgeous, she gave a great performance as Alana - she should have a real career ahead of her if this is any indication.

I can't wait to see it. too bad the site crashed but I was hoping to download it anyway, I hate streaming video.

Just playing around with my screen cap editor on my Mac...

The New Voyages site is carrying a message that overwhelming demand has caused technical problems and they're taking down the stream temporarily. I take it as a problem borne of the quality of the product. It's easy to forget sometimes that we are still in the pioneering stages of the Internet as a whole and web-based entertainment in particular, so I think it's only fair to expect these kinds of problems and try to take them in stride.

I did get to see the teaser before the site crashed and I was highly impressed with everything. James continues to improve and is obviously working very hard on his acting skills. All of the "amateurs" held their own very well against the "pros" in the teaser and I'm looking forward to seeing the entire production.

I've said before, but don't mind repeating that for me part of the fun with the fan productions is watching the improvement of the acting. Exeter took a huge leap from episode 1 to 2 and the New Voyages cast is obviously working hard to learn that very difficult craft.

Stompy, the Board Rules say images no bigger than 50-60kb. Those are a little larger than that and were stretching the thread. Sorry.

Official site high-res torrent link found at TrekMovie.com. EDIT: OK, maybe not so official, but the best and most accessible version. EDIT 2: Torrent has been removed.

The big wins in this episode are the script, the performances of George Takei and Christina Moses, and the fact that nothing really screws it up. This is the best Star Trek story in a long, long time, as I said at TrekMovie.com, it's "The City on the Edge of Forever" and "The Inner Light" combined.

There are many, many "real" Star Trek episodes that are worse than this because their scripts were no where near as good as this script. Professionals can't save a piece of crap. In this case, New Voyages had a lot of good things going for it.

And I like Scotty.

It seem the site that hosted - or was supposed to do so - the stream for the premiere (and afterwards?) is down.

It also is obvious now that all the links to other sites hosting the movie leed to ilegally obtained copys.

I highly recommend you not to go there and download / watch for it really takes away from the good people at New Voyages.

Maybe they will put up a legal stream on some site during the next couple of days. Here is hoping ...

Christina is great in this, isn't she? If everything works out between our schedules, we'll sit down in a week or two for an interview and hopefully I can give you a glimpse at this fine young actress

Maybe I'm missing something, but this is an absolutely free production. How can it be "illegal" to download it from elsewhere (unless one of those sites is charging)?

I got my copy from a BT link yesterday, and it transferred very quickly. Frankly, I don't understand why NV didn't offer up the BT and other download options from the start.

Of course "ilegal" is the wrong term. But they wanted to get an accurate count of acesses/downloads from the site they put in charge. They said that CBS was interested in that count (for whatever reason).

Maybe all who downloaded elsewhere due to the fact that the live streaming event crashed and burned for a lot of unfortunate fans, coult download it (or watch the stream) again on their official side as soon as it is back online.

So they get their count finally and maybe some kind of a deal with CBS ...

They can steal glean a count from the apache logs. The logs will show unique IPs trying to access the stream site. I wouldn't really worry.

Also, the "stream" wasn't technically a streaming file. They simply had the full movie posted on the site for users to download in-browser. This was the problem. If it was a proper stream, they wouldn't have melted down so spectacularly.

What's funny is, the "official" torrent posted above is the same one that was in the wild. Same hash, same typo in the filename, "Wolrd".

Yes. That is my problem too. It is all starting to smack of a bit of a transition to a more elite way of doing things(ie, how long before we pay for this?).

I don't mind paying. Just tell us what is going on, that is, is this official, sanctioned Trek that must be paid for, or is it a fan production, in other words, free.

Something's starting to smell a bit fishy about this.

This was a most beautiful stnv episode. What a great story! Well delivered, overall quite a jewel. I'm sure people not intrested in the ST Genre would also enjoy it.

Congratulations to all concerned - considering that it was done with personal donations of time and effort makes it that much more extraordinary. Very optimistic about future episodes! I avoided the rush, so the comments about streaming problems seem ultimately rather petty, but i'm not surprised there was one - the volume of vistors was well-deserved.

Sorry that some folks are having difficulty accessing World Enough and Time - but, I'd like to reiterate what has already been said; it's worth the little extra wait.

I was one of the most vociferously sceptical critics of the early episodes of New Voyages.

"To Serve All My Days" took an incredible leap ahead in quality though, and "World Enough..." builds on that and trumps it. This is something really special; a truly moving, finely crafted episode that could stand among the best of Trek if it had been part of the regular run. I completely forgot I was watching a fan film.

George Takei was superb, as were all the supporting actors - but I was really impressed to see good performances from the New Voyages regulars. Whether it was the direction, the actor's own hard work or a bit of both, everyone was great.

Kudos to all involved.
