New Voyager Fan- best seasons

Well I ended up buying seasons 4, 5 and 7. It makes sense to buy all of them I agree but I'd rather watch these then see if I want to buy the rest. Thank you for all your informed opinions :)
I think I haven't explained myself very well about why I think seven's inclusion is sexist. I want to clarify first by saying I think she's is an attractive woman, great body symmetrical face etc. My husband thinks she's a "prawn" (some of you may have to google that). So she's not to everyone's taste iykwim. But I say she is extrememly beautiful and i'd say 99.9% of straight men would find her extremely hot.
I also think she's a pretty good actor, though I don't know how hard it is to act robotic/ angry I feel she does a good job of it. So nothing personal against Jeri Ryan's acting, she's one of the best on the show imo.
What got me (and remember I'm a new fan so I haven't seen all of the series) is the fact she's wearing a skin tight lycra suit which leaves nothing to the imagination when the rest of the crew are wearing star fleet uniforms. Why? I mean if they are going to sex it up with seven's character, they could have at least have had some studly guy walking around shirtless for 4 seasons for us ladies couldn't they?

It all seems a bit obvious to me, but if someone can offer me a good and I mean GOOD reason not some bull shit sci fi fantasy reason as to why she has to wear that suit then I will stand corrected.

You made some good choices in seasons :)

As for Seven, I never liked the fact that she wore the catsuit either. Don't get me wrong, I think that she's a great character with a great story through the latter half of Voyager, but it feels like the writers did in some of the equality they were trying to bring in by having a female captain. Janeway was meant to be a female character who didn't rely on sex to have a presence on screen, and Seven should have been the same. Yes she was intelligent and analytical, but what most people remember her for is the catsuit, and that's from both sides of the line.

I don't know if any specific reason was ever given, but I seem to recall that it may have something to do with her regeneration or her Borg implants. But don't quote me on that.

I guess I just don't write a character off as sexist because of her appearance.

Which is how I treat people in real life. Superficial judgements are just that--superficial.

Yes, Seven's catsuit was a deliberate ploy to get ratings via sex appeal, though, fortunately, the Writers did write a deep, compelling character.

And...You can't really single out Seven for this. TNG had Troi, without even bothering with any kind of explanation for her (An Actual Starfleet Member) to be out of uniform. And of course, we had T'Pol in Enterprise, and though, it wasn't nearly as obvious Kira in DS9 had an outfit that was fairly close to being a Catsuit.

:techman: :bolian: :techman:

SOME WOMEN HAVE BIG BOOBS!

And ya know, they shouldn't have to wear non-fitting clothes because of this.

Exactly.

As another poster said, we had Troi in a catsuit on the bridge, and she's a senior officer. It's not like Seven's catsuit was unique in Star Trek.

You are talking about star trek. Bullshit sci fi reasons are all that you're gonna get.
