I adore cats, but I never got into Thundercats. It had some interesting ideas, but was mostly pretty silly. And who thought it was a good idea to make a kids' show where the hero wields a phallic weapon that he has to make longer before going into action with it?

^More an orang-utan man, I see.

When i saw a live orang-utan for the first time, that is when i first started to believe in the theory of evolution. That was in my youth. There is so much humanity in them that i saw.

Well, it was the eighties, when the ultimate goal of toons on TV was to sell toys. They probably weren't thinking much past "Let's have the sword do something cool that little brats will want to imitate."

Or it was something subversive for the creators to snicker about including...

Probably the same guy who gave the female robot in Mazinger Z (or Tranzor Z in the US) Mammary Missiles. It was a groovy time, man. ;)

Tee-hee! Love anime...

Samurai Pizza Cats

Shit, I forgot about that show. It's a parody of TMNT, which was originally a parody, but it was vaguely amusing.

I was going to suggest Bucky O'Hare

Anyway, I voted for Captain Planet. It's the only one that I was familiar with that I felt would make for a watchable movie (others I just see being butchered or I don't know them).

Battletech (even though I never saw the cartoon) and Captain Planet for sure; also seconding Gargoyles... though not without the voice of Keith David.

Not-too-serious list of potential actors for a He-Man movie

Jolie would be a great choice for Evil-Lyn. Her age shouldn't be a factor, since the one time we saw E-L remove her headdress, she was revealed to have white hair (I think they said the magic aged her or something).

I can't agree with Natalie Portman as the Sorceress, though. Too young, not regal enough (despite having played royalty). I'd suggest someone more along the lines of Cate Blanchett.

As for She-Ra, I'm not sure about Jennifer Lawrence. I've only seen her in X-Men First Class and wasn't as impressed with her as many seem to be (I do intend to see Hunger Games once it's out on video, but haven't managed it yet). As for my suggestion, looking at that picture of She-Ra in the article, I'm thinking she looks almost exactly like Jeri Ryan, who's also got the voice and physique for it and is a superb actress who could easily carry off both Adora and She-Ra. But Ryan might be a few years past being ideal for it; Adam and Adora are twins and the shows portrayed them as fairly young.

I've only seen Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man, but she was pretty solid there, so yeah, I could see her as Teela. But I think Jamie Alexander might be better.

I think I'd choose Tom Hardy as Skeletor rather than Man-at-Arms. If we're choosing Bat-veterans, how about Gary Oldman as Duncan? Or, heck, Morgan Freeman?

But I can't think of a better candidate for He-Man than Chris Hemsworth, except that it would be too similar to Thor.
