New uniforms in Season 2 Trailer

I may have to pick up desperate hours now that i saw that video. I'm looking forward to see Pike and the Enterprise crew.

Perhaps Mr. Mack can chime in here, but didn't he say that the crews of Constitution class ships wear The Cage uniforms? These new uniforms I'm seeing aren't The Cage uniforms.
The TOS uniforms are more iconic.

Plus the show isn’t beholden to the books

I haven't read the book but I'd be surprised if the uniforms were described in enough detail that they couldn't be these new ones.

That isn’t the point. He didn’t even know the enterprise was appearing IIRC

Er, the point is that I asked if Mack's book stated that the Connie uniforms were the ones from The Cage. Because people are implying that these new uniforms are a result of that. I haven't read his book and didn't know if he described what the uniforms looked like.

It described The Cage uniforms, just checked my copy.

I like the uniforms, pretty much what I expected. Seems like a nice blend of the current DISCO ones with the Beyond ones. I really love that they kept the piping on the shoulders, I love that detail. Even though it makes creating a replica costume hard.

FWIW, here is what Desperate Hours says about uniforms.

“Shenzhou wore dark blue Starfleet utility jumpsuit uniforms with black trim, while the Enterprise team sported pale gold or light blue jerseys over black trousers—a new uniform style that so far had been issued exclusively to the crews of Starfleet’s vaunted Constitution-class starships”

Also, if we do see Number One, I’m betting she’ll be named Una and has an established friendship with Saru, and that Michael and Spock reconnected on that same mission only a few years prior to the pilot.

Of course the producers are free to ignore the events of Desperate Hours but it would be kind of weird to undercut a major tie-in that they were heavily involved in. My guess is that the broad strokes of DH won’t be contradicted.

I only started the book this week and I’m nearly finished, so I don’t know where everyone ends up at the end of the novel, but a major subplot is Saru’s admiration and fascination with Number One. If the book had been released after Season 1, I’d highly suspect that the novel was setting up Una as Disco’s new captain. I wouldn’t rule it out.

Edit: Noticed @Tuskin38 beat me with the excerpt

I was curious and actually googled '3F' in relation to Star Trek and got this:

Spock Quarter's were 3F 125 (though so was Janice's)

Spock and Mudd were roommates? Let's see that story!

They look TOS but 75% enough of TOS to not get in trouble.
I like this ship. It's exciting!

I bet that the TOS inspired uniforms are for the Enterprise only. I bet the Discovery stays with the uniforms established last season.
Probably so, and that fits with current world building. Also, consistent with Starfleet protocol shown across several shows.

Discovery could have blue uniforms because they are primarily a science vessel. The more all-purpose ships use different colors.
