I have a younger friend who is considering checking out Star Trek due to his enjoyment of The Orville. He usually watches those adult cartoons like Family Guy, Futurama, Rick and Morty, stuff like that. Anyway, if he's looking for a lite Star Trek that's humerous and easy on the drama, which would you recommend?

I'm thinking Voyager. I want to recommend Lower Decks, but does the humor still work if you've never watched ANY Star Trek?

I think your friend would be better off if you curated a list that comprised light and comedic episodes from all series, starting from TOS. He would get a broad swath of the franchise's culture as well as episodes that suit his interests.

The Orville slowly turned more serious, so I would just pick a show and toss them in.

Start with LD, then if he wants to know the background to some references, he can watch those episodes and movies ;)
