New TMP style Engineering set shown in new Trek xbox game?

Lord Garth FOI

Commander
Red Shirt
If you pause the game teaser trailer around 16-17 seconds

You will see what appears to be a new modernized TMP style engineering set and central warp core for Giganticprise

I hope this is a preview for the next film!

Maybe we just didn't see it behind the enormous beer vats

Assuming I've got the right trailer (since I'm not a gamer at all), it looks so dark and empty I can't tell it's the Enterprise. I also haven't seen TMP in a while, so I can't remember what that looked like either.

But considering how little progress they've made on the next film so far, I doubt it's indicative of the film, unless it had input from people working on the movie, and they decide to base a new warp core on this design. Personally I think anything would be better than the brewery.

Honestly, I think the brewery would be the perfect setting for a videogame level. Cover, open areas, catwalks, pipes, loads of hidden areas... trust me, it would be great to play. A game designer who passes that up in favour of an empty room with a single glowing pipe in the middle doesn't know what he's doing.

I don't think the clip is of the Enterprise, anyway. We see the Enterprise later on (corridors and the bridge, looking exactly as they did in STXI). I think the core shaft is on Helios, which looks like a space station of some sort.

The TMP sets were the best. I really hope that they do adopt a modern conversion.

I hope we get a glimpse of a 'true' 23rd century engineering deck as opposed to the brewery we got in Star Trek 2009.

^ I agree. On the other hand, if we get the brewery again, I would at least like to see a cameo with Laverne & Shirley as warp technicians....

Considering they haven't finished writing the next movie, never mind starting pre-production, I wouldn't put any stock in this being any relation to what we see on screen.

Okay, I DID like how they blew out the silly window on the bridge. And since most of this game is supposed to take place on the Enterprise, I have to assume that's supposed to be the "new" Enterprise engineering set (though it's still just as utterly silly as the brewery, with all that wasted space!).

My fond dream... maybe this will give them an in-universe excuse to revise the sets?

That "engine room" scene took place on whatever installation they are trying to save. It was before they jumped to the Enterprise.

It looks like the concept art for Star Trek XI:

Wow how cool! This is my first time seeing these!
I'd love to see these created from the original 3-D designs designed by Ryan Church into a virtual 3-D space to explore in a videogame. Surely we won't get anything like that in Star Trek: Online though...
Looks like it almost happened with this game.

That is not a lava lamp warp core... it's a beer bong!:guffaw:

Seriously, it looks more like a rip-off of the DeathStar core where Luke and Papa duel it out.

Looks pretty cool. Finally a decent looking Star Trek platform game. They've all been so horrible to date.

Looks like they may have some scale issues too that is inconsistant with the movie. Granted- it's just a game. And a movie.

If they keep the sound track for the game, and not just for the promo, then that'll ramp it up a little too!

Even if they changed it (which they haven't and shouldn't) they wouldn't need to explain it any more that than The Dark Knight explained the complete change in Gotham City between Batman Begins and it. Or how STV explained the totally new bridge after the one seen at the end of IV.
