Apparently the original series saw them eventually either recreate or re-discover Thunderra, their original home planet, and head back there to start things over. However, most episodes invovled Lion-O and company running into the Mutants' latest nefarious schemes, fighting a lot, the redhead says "Thundercats, HO!" at least once, and reset for next week. I just rewatched the original pilot episode, and IMO the show hasn't aged well. Plenty of camp, over-acted dialogue, and pre-teen plotting. In other words, exactly what it was supposed to be.
Watche dthe new one though, and as derivative as it is from other anime plots (did anyone else think they just re-watched the first couple episodes of "Vision of Escaflowne"?) it was brilliantly animated and very watchable to an adult audience. The magic-vs-tech conflict is interesting, and I'll keep going to see where they go with it.
