News New Star Trek Online Story Features Star Trek: Discovery

“J’Ula, matriarch of the House of Mo’Kai and sister of T’Kuvma”

The sister of T’Kuvma, eh? Will we see her in season 2? She’s likely going to be annoyed / dishonoured that her brother and presumably leader of her house was killed by Michael was it?

Revenge against the federation must be high on J’Ula’s agenda. Maybe she’ll challenge L’Rell for control of the empire?

Or it’ll all be dealt with by s31 - or a setup for season 3?

Hmmm weird. Wouldn't it make more sense to make her sister of L'Rell? L'Rell was from House Mo'Kai not T'Kuvma. Wasn't he the leader of his house by his own name? Confused.

J’Ula married into the House of Mo'Kai. She's from the T'Kuvma comics written by Kirsten Beyer.

STO's DSC story will be taking place during the time skip between Episodes 2 and 3 of Season 1, so L'Rell would be stuck on T'Kuvma's ship during that time.

There was a live stream today with one of the devs from the game, and he said, like with the DSC comics and novels, they worked with CBS and DSC's writers/producers directly to make sure the story could theoretically fit within DSC's story.

It was actually the show people who suggested that Cryptic use J'Ula in their story.

So this will be similar to TOS thing; couple of missions and then you get ported in the future, and that's basically it? Will there be new ships? Aren't they selling Crossfield and Walker as lockbox ships, so they probably are not gonna give them to Disco era players for free...

Thanks for the clarification, makes more sense now. I confess that I haven't really followed any of the extra content via other media sources.

Some info from last nights stream.

They’re treating this like an expansion that is slowly released over time.

That being said DSC themed content will NOT be the only thing released going forward, but will be sprinkled here and there between other content, it’s an ongoing story.

They worked directly with the writers and producers, and I don’t mean over the phone, they went to their local offices in LA to discuss the game’s story. It was actually the show people who suggested they use T’Kuvma’s sister from the comics.

They worked out, theoretically, how the game’s story would fit in the Discovery’s story line to make sure it won’t contridict the show.

Lots of new ships, but didn’t say what.

More info coming next week at Vegas.

The T6 ST: D ships are all Lockbox ships, yes. I would imagine that you might see a T0 or T1 version of the Crossfield and other ST: D ships - much like they have for the TOS Constitution and Miranda classes.
