Paramount Pictures released today at Creation Entertainment's 6th annual Official Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas the new (and third) poster for J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek movie.

I liked it.

Very old school.
*let the arguing commence at how "this sucks" thats awful it won't sell the film. Where's my hero shot? - you know its gonna happan.

I like it just to be clear - old school and back to the basics.

Is this an open invite for Stewey #2 -- I mean -- Sec31Mike?

Before anyone says it sucks I'd like to point out that this is a teaser poster.

It's the equivalent of the Batman Begins & TDK teaser image...a bat symbol with a release date & title under it.

Doood, that sucks... A GOOD movie poster would show how young Kirk is being saved by all of the other captains at once! So there should be, at a minimum, Sisko, Picard, and Archer, all under the command and control of the true STAR of the movie... JANEWAY! Her face should DOMINATE the poster!

And the 1701 should be reimagined as being just like the Voyager but with even smaller warp engines.

I was up at 4 am debating him... if you look at some of my posts you will notice I'd kinda got fed up by then.

I was all jazzed when they showed the second teaser (three teaser posters - I don't many movies that have that many...) seconds later people were ripping it to pieces like it was the actual theatrical poster. Figured I'd beat them to the punch :D

This poster should feature all the characters they haven't cast yet. What the hell kind of runaway hack production is this anyway?!?!?

Further example of how they should give up and just give us a sequel to Nemesis. Obviously the classic era of Trek is impossible to make a compelling poster for. Where is Kirk? Where is the Enterprise? Where is the dramatically posed villain looking seductively into the camera?

FLOP!

:p

Wow. That's pure nostalgia in a bottle right there. If I had seen this in person, I think I probably would've wet myself. This just really drives him the fact that in late December 2008, I will actually be able to see a TOS movie on the big freakin' silver screen! Have I mentioned that I'm excited? I might actually have to think about buying that poster.
Oh, and since the overall tone of this thread might cause some confusion, I'll just point out that I actually wasn't being sarcastic.

Hey, I've heard the movie is "in living color."

Tell me anyone who posts here wouldn't kill for that poster. Even if it's not KEWL.

I think people are referring to a TrekBBS legend that to me is now only a faded memory, but I think I'm remembering a little bit about Stewey these days. :-)

Folks, can we please have a "Stewey Remembered" Thread somewhere?

Remembering Stewey on purpose is like not flushing the toilet after you have a case of diarrhea.

I dunno, it seems kinda bland to me. All it is is the name and logo on a starfield. The sepia tone is nice, but there isn't much there.

But the movie will sell itself eventually.
