New Star Trek Collectibles Magazine now shipping

So it was pretty interesting to then see some of the same content suddenly show up in the other mag around the same time ours hit news stands.

Coincidence that both magazines are discussing new products for the new movie coming out, and reflecting the state of ST as it stands today? Yeah... Even with weeks of secret advance notice, do you really think STM would be able to rush to duplicate your content and get it back in for CBS approval in time to coincide with yours?

I'd quit the suggestions of possible espionage and just let the fans buy one, both or neither of the magazine lines and see what happens. I'm yet to see your magazine yet, but every time you leap to defend it (and your collectibles book), I feel uneasy. Fans are discerning people and they'll either like your work, or they won't. Either they feel there's a need for your magazine, or they won't.

Defending your decisions here isn't going to make people who don't like it, to suddenly change their mind and buy it anyway. And regular STM readers aren't going to stop buying that magazine just because both magazines might sometimes discuss similar material.

Our mag had a lead time as well, and the fact that our mags content also had to be approved ahead of time by CBS, their lawyers and who knows who else saw our content to check it all over certainly gave someone a chance to see what our content was enough before hand. Well, they brought Spock back to life so I suppose anything is possible
Anyway, I am glad to hear that everyone is digging the new mag and I will certainly forward all feedback to my publisher

Accusations of plagiarism, copyright infringement, etc are serious accusations and should be taken care of via the proper channels. Which is to say, not here.

We welcome discussion of this form of literature so as long as the discussion stays with the literature itself and not accusations to and fro about one thing or another.

Yeah, I saw that as well and was wondering why they put that in as we were delayed with all of the approvals for our content we had to get through CBS.
What I am told they actually had the biggest problem with was our cover. According to my editor, Krause went through quite a few different cover variations before CBS finally approved us to be able to use the 7 or 9 bust cover version.
Just to be clear here, I am not accusing anyone of anything, as I was merely pointing out the odd coincidences that I stated earlier. If someone wants to make a stretch and try and say it is something more or assume I meant something more than that is their business.
This thread is to talk about the unofficial Star Trek Collectibles magazine and to get feedback and input so we will know what people liked, didn't like and what they would like to see in any future issues. If you would like to chat on and on about any other magazines and what you would like to see for their content please use their threads for those discussions.

If anyone took my comments as suggesting espionage or some other insider deal I apologize if I worded my comments in a way that they would think that. That was not my intention. My reply about lead times and that CBS approved our content was just that, stating facts as to how this mag was produced and to answer the question as to how anyone would have seen our content ahead time, nothing more. It was not an attempt to suggest anything further.

I am only wanting to have discussions about this magazine and to get feedback that we can use in the future. If my coincidence comment caused us get sidetracked from any of that then again I apologize.
