New Sony WHO game coming

Hopefully it's better than the Wii stuff (Nothing against the system, but the WHO licensed games for it were real bad). Also the ability to play as River might allow for more action-oriented stuff than previous WHO games where you were either the Doctor or the companion.

Sorry, what Wii stuff? I know there was a Sonic Screwdriver-shaped Wiimote (gods how stupid is that name? Who came up with that? It's little, like a wee-mote. No, let's ... sorry, ranting) ... Was there an actual Doctor Who game for the Wii?

Yep. Doctor Who Return To Earth. I think it was only released in Britain. Basically it's a point and click style wii game, with really outdated graphics. A DS counterpart was also released.

It was released in Australia, as was the DS game, Evacuation Earth.

I'm thinking of getting a PS3 next year now that there are several titles I feel justify the expense - this Doctor Who one being one of them. Sounds like it'll be a cut above the Wii and DS games (which by the way are separate games, with apparently connected plots or something).

Now the question is - with BBC Worldwide involved will this game actually see release outside the UK? I've pretty much given up on any Doctor Who games being properly available over here in North America. I'm still annoyed that the Adventure Games, available for both Windows and MacOS in the UK free download versions, are only available for Windows in North America, so I've pretty much conditioned myself to ignore those releases. I had actually assumed this new one was another one of those until someone said it was for PS3 as well (BTW what the heck is the Vita platform? Never heard of that one before.).

Aside from the ones we've discussed, there was also a game for either PS2 or Wii called Top Trumps (I believe that's a card game franchise - I'm not familiar with it) released during Tennant's time and it also was only released in the UK. That's the only Tennant-based console game that I'm aware of.

^^ Vita is a soon-to-be-released handheld console, the successor to the PSP

The nice thing is I believe PS3 games are not typically region locked.
