New Short Treks ???

Every time I see the words “Captain Worf series,” my left eye twitches. Hard pass.

It's good for a joke (the old "Worf is always right/shoot first, ask questions later" routine), but beyond that, I don't really see the appeal. It might be good to catch up with Worf, and see what evil things he's been up to the last 20 years.

That could easily be done in an episode of Picard. I don’t have an issue in the slightest catching up with Worf but between TUC, TNG, GEN-NEM and DS9, I don’t need a Michael Dorn-led series. I’m Worf-Ed on a regular basis out.

There will never be a Captain Worf or Captain Sulu series (and Takei ain't coming back to Star Trek ever.) They are simply not popular enough characters to warrant having an entire series set around them.

As for Short Treks, even if they make more, they will only be utilizing sets from the shows currently in production. They're not going to make a 15 minute short about what happened on Deep Space Nine after season 7 ended, etc.

They're not strictly necessary, but I thought they provided a place to both flesh out little things from a series like the DOT-7's or try out experimental concepts like Zora. It would be nice if they have the chance to continue to create more of them where it makes sense.

Probably. But with the overuse of AR screens or whatever, a lot more possibilities have opened up. But I don't expect a DS9 update (or update on any old series), unless it ties into a future season of Picard or something.

That kinda explains it, but not really. I understand corona delaying productions but there has been nothing what so ever that Ive come across since the season two release.
Well remember they were originally designed to be very cost effective to produce by using existing sets and a lot of the extras from various episodes of a given season. The COVID-19 production protocols have made just bringing a group together to do any production a major undertaking in both time and cost. So yeah until the COVID-19 virus becomes endemic and is no longer pandemic; I don't think we'll see any further short treks produced, and that's sad.

I want Long Treks. Little standalone 90-120 minute TV movies, set anywhere and anywhen in Trek and starring whoever they want.

This or even random 45 minute stories if that is all that is needed. Short Treks were about using resources wisely to create more content now that they have 3 shows in production rotation, they have more resources available when any show is taking a break and could do much more than a 10 minute minisode.
