In my Star Trek: Adventures game, I state that the Temporal Cold War altered the Post-Enterprise Timeline to create a much more advanced and slightly more violent time. The future is still mostly the same due to Time Police like Daniels but its a broad strokes future.

They could say something similar in canon.

I understand his irritation too – if I'd poured that much work into something I'd hate to see it discarded as well. But at the same time, he doesn't seem to understand that Star Trek was never his to begin with; he complains like he owns the franchise and that The People are somehow owed airtight continuity. We're not, and that's what irritates me. He has no perspective on his anger. He posts about it like it's matter of social justice, and not a hobby that's moved on without him. (In that light, his complaint about how people would react if Edward were played by anyone but a white man is rather ironic.)

But he's staying in his own website. You people here were putting his critique here.

He simply doesn't like the new iteration of Trek, and he absolutely has every right to do so. And he has the right to post on his own website about that.

Of course you don't have to like his opinions either. But making fun of him for "not catching up" - especially considering how massive his contribution to the whole fandom has been - just feels wrong.

And - in fact - even the new PIC show seems to go a little bit back into Bernd's comfort area, by being super faithful to "classic" Trek canon (continuing previous events, TOS era Romulan ship, Enterprise-D looking like in the 80s) in a way DIS should have done as well right from the start. Bernd might not like PIC either - but it's almost made for him to put all new ships and events into his encyclopedia again without all consistency blowing up again.

I fully understand and share ~80% of his points, and most of them are good points, cause he simply truthfully points out avoidable inconsistencies. I don't think the fast-reproducing tribbles need an origin story, and it's weird that human DNA is responsible, so that's what I have to criticize the most here.

This.

I think the episode is more of a vegan vs omni allegory than guy vs girl, or scientist vs captain.

Maybe it's just because I work with engineers, many of whom are exactly like this guy, and they drive me batshit crazy. Too close to real life maybe?
Which kind of reminds me of why I could never get into The Big Bang Theory, the characters just remind me of the crowd I hung around with in high school who I couldn't stand.

He doesn't. He's already losing it over the Starfleet badge in Picard being "obviously influenced" by the Disco badge and how that's a crime of the highest order or something.

I don't mind his continuity but the opening. "because he's a straight white dude, clearly he's a loser" warranted some derisive commentary.

I mean, really? In Star Trek?

Also he doesn’t live in Canada or The US, so uh he must be watching these Short Trek’s illegally.

At least he knows the 25% rule is bullshit (I’ve seen him laugh at people in the comments who bring it up)

The situation definitely got away from Captain Whatsherface incredibly quickly. I doubt anyone will be offering her another command anytime soon. She’ll probably fly a desk for the rest of her career.
