The season is rumored to begin on September 1st.
I guess Moffat meant what he said about the RTDaleks being the "common Daleks" while the New Paradigm are the "officer class."
I thought August 25th was the rumoured airdate? Indeed, the Space channel has their Doctor Who marathons lined up to accomodate an August 25th premiere date.
BBC America doesn't. They're broadcasting a new Doctor Who documentary on the 25th at 9 o'clock. On September 1st, they're marathoning season 6 and "The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe" all day with an unscheduled block at 9 o'clock. (See the week 5 schedule.) Evidence points to September 1st for BBC America. Beyond that, I'm not at liberty to say, except that it's highly likely that September 1st is also the BBC 1 date.

The red Drones were supposed to be the new regular troops, as seen in "The Only Good Dalek" and "City Of The Daleks". It was only when the NPDs went down like the proverbial lead balloon that the whole "officer class" idea popped up.
Not with Merlin starting on September 29th in the same slot...
Last Who/first Merlin on the same night happened last year IIRC.

I ... suspect there's been quite a bit of editing around that scene. It might play out something like:
RORY: Who killed all the Daleks?
DOCTOR enters carrying AMY'S dead body
DOCTOR: Rory ... I ...
RORY: No! You and she both said this would work out! Look at her! LOOK at her! We were supposed to have a house in Leadworth. Kids. We should have had the chance to grow old together. Look at the mess you've made of our lives! Who's going to fix that, huh? Who's going to fix that?!
DOCTOR: Who do you think?

Technically they're not. Each of the five episodes is supposed to take place about a year after the one before it from their point of view. (And it was already two years since the last time they'd seen him at the end of the last Xmas special.)
^ Makes sense, given that there was supposed to be a slightly older version of them present in the Hungry Earth two-parter. I wonder how much time passes for the Doctor and whether this all happens before Closing Time.
Does that mean the Doctor takes Amy and Rory out for a spin once a year like he did with the blonde in the first Christmas special?
I don't think it's meant as exactly a year to the day, just the general idea that these are occasional encounters over the course of several years.
In Episode 1, they're kidnapped by the Daleks to draw him to them.
In Episode 2 the Doctor picks them up to help him out with the spaceship (with dinosaurs) that's heading towards the Earth. (Accidently involving Rory's Dad in the process.)
Episode 3, the Western, seems to be the only one where they just take a trip with him.
Episode 4 is a full-on UNIT story and they get involved much like in Ep2.
And in their last episode they seem to come together to investigate the mystery of an old Pulp Detective Novel that appears to star their daughter.
In Episode 2 the Doctor picks them up to help him out with the spaceship (with dinosaurs) that's heading towards the Earth. (Accidently involving Rory's Dad in the process.)
Episode 3, the Western, seems to be the only one where they just take a trip with him.

Huge props to the BBC for not region-locking this!
Looks promising though I really don't need any more stone angels (the little cherub maybe suggesting something new at least...). Karen looks great, love the big robots and the voices.
Kind of nonplussed by the Daleks though, I didn't really grow up with Who so don't have a lot of nostalgia. The new series has kind of sucked the "specialness" out of their appearances for me for the most part. I think they're actually more memorable when they aren't so "epic" and numerous.
