Perhaps inhabited by eldritch entities, or strange monsters. Which, perhaps, might cross over into our reality-this seems to have been part of Torchwood, with Cardiff a sort of city sized Bermuda Triangle.

In the context of Trek, fluidic space and Species 8472 might be deemed examples.

The Land of the Lost movie might be deemed as an example of this trope.

Ok, so a little quick update; I'm not sure how much more I'll update here, since I kind of want some things to be a surprise for people, and if this ends up where I'm hoping it does, I'd rather not have to delete things here to keep everything from going out, but as a quick response to those who asked if I basically have any ways in with the industry... Unless otherwise noted, I'll be flying out to Burbank in August, at the start of the season, to tour NBC Studios while they're filming pilots and season starts, with the goal of seeing how everything works, making some connections, talking with directors, writers, etc, and then going from there.
In the meantime, I'll be continuing to work on the writing, and I remain highly optimistic that it'll eventually get where it needs to go.

Thanks I'm not expecting this to be some crazy clear shot, but I'm still optimistic that with the solid connection I have now, and the chance of some new ones, I'll at least get the opportunity to pitch at a later point in time. If I get to that point, I'll still consider it at least a personal success for me.
