New Radiohead song

Pretty much my thought. This is an extremely listenable song, but it doesn't stand out. Generally speaking, strings can be nice for atmosphere but if the rest of the song doesn't do anything, I won't really be wowed by it.

The middle eight is interesting, it has a resignation about it and the subject matter lends it an element of poignancy which is evoked quite well from the strings. The oscillating strings create a misty in the past charging through the fields kind of atmosphere. Don't think it measures up to Ok Computer Radiohead imo, everything after that album has been a bit meh.

^ I understand why people say that, but I've always thought Kid A, Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows are excellent albums. Amnesiac is a bit dodgy but even that has You and Whose Army on it. Harry Patch is a nice enough song but I can't see me listening to it very much. I do like what it's in aid of though, and how the lyrics are all quotes or things to do with Mr Patch. A sweet tribute to the end of an era.

Ha you beat me to it I just came in to post that. I really like this one. Gloomy, Hail to the Thief-y. It can only get better.

In other Radiohead news, the band is done with albums.

Yorke's comments emerge just days after his band released a download-only single, in tribute to first world war veteran Harry Patch. This model of instantly available singles and quick EPs is the way that Radiohead now wish to proceed, Yorke told the Believer magazine.
