Casino Royale breathed new life into the Bond franchise, and deservedly so. Craig's James Bond is the driven, unstoppable, quasi-sociopath that Ian Flemming wrote about half a century ago. This appears to be a continuation of that re-set philosophy, and it looks very exciting and dynamic.

I have been tossed up as to whether Craig is a better Bond than Sean Connery -- and I believe that this film will push him into the "YES" column.
I have long enjoyed Bond films, but this is the first time I've really been excited at the prospect of a new film.

I don't like Daniel Craig as James Bond.
I didn't think Casino Royale was a good BOND movie, but it was entertaining it just felt like Bourne Jr.

I believe there were copyright issues with the name SPECTRE that they would rather just avoid.
That business is settled now Sony owns MGM and McClory is not involved anymore.
Looks really, really good.
My only fear is that if they're not careful they'll steer Bond back into parody. Mad gadgets, ludicrously over the top action and no consequences for anything. Of course I worried about this as well with TDK but those fears turned out to be totally unjustified.

Not entirely. I read that his estate is suing for control over SPECTRE and Blofeld.
I'm indifferent to the trailer. Lacked anything to really focus on.
I can understand not wanting to move back into the silliness that was prevalent in the Roger Moore era, but I think the series is starting to lose its identity a bit. There are certain staples of the Bond series that give it its charm. Bond will walk in, flirt with Moneypenny, get chewed out by M (granted, that's still there) and then hop on down to Q branch for some gadgets and chastising about proper handling of said gadgets.
Those are part of the Bond mythos, and I think it's a big mistake to remove these elements from the series. Without them, there's little to diffrentiate the Bond series from other spy movies. Don't get me wrong, I loved Casino Royale. I just hope that the series doesn't forget where it came from.
Those were always a staple. Bond would step through to "M" office which looked like gentlemen's smoking room, get his new assignment and then leave and make a comment to moneypenny and off he went.
I've always imagined if Brosnan had gotten the role in 86 doing that Bond staple. His updated one was in "The world is not enough"
I've liked that the production crew has kept the basic format of the sets. Moneypenny's office is outside of M's and by a window.
Even in Casino Royale it was the Brosnan era sets with Villiers taking over for Moneypenny
Well, I think after 20 movies it is acceptable to venture out and do some things that are a bit different than what was done before. Do you seriously want the same routine for every movie?
^No, but when you go to a Bond movie, there are certain things you expect to see. Moneypenny and Q are an essential part of the Bond mythos. I can't speak for everyone, but I know I'm feeling their absence.

I enjoyed Casino Royale for the most part but I just don't get why everyone raves about it. It's not even in the top ten for me. Vesper was as dull as dishwater, apart from the free running the action scenes were generally unexciting and then the movie just stops for twenty minutes while they make a botched attempt at convincing us that Bond and Vesper are in love.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service showed us how you convince the audience that Bond is in love with a woman.
This trailer just looks like more of the same to me. I imagine this will go in the "to buy on Blu-Ray" pile.
