Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

Ii assume we won’t see any novels that show us much about Worf until the show either features him in a future season, or comes toward it’s end without ever doing so. They aren’t going to want another Desperate Hours situation where they let a book establish things and then end up going in a different direction in a later season.

Well, that was due to a change of showrunner. Bryan Fuller said he wasn’t going to have Pike and Spock in the show. But after he left, the.new showrunner decided he was.

That is over-thinking it - I'm actually more included to think that if the tie-in says that Worf captained the Enterprise-E that will never be the case on-screen - why give that sort of information away in a (relative to the series) a little read tie-in.

Well, at this point it doesn't look like anything like that is imminent.

If they decided to do something like that it probably would be at a point along the show where there'd probably be enough information out there about the backstory to do an Enterprise story in the new timeline that's probably relatively safe. I mean, you're never 100% safe from having a tie-in overridden, but maybe relatively so.

I have heard rumors that David Mack might be working on a Data story. I'll be interested to see if that will be a TNG book, a Picard book, or maybe some hybrid type book that incorporates elements of both. Perhaps that will involve the Enterprise in some fashion.

Well, Season 2 of Picard has a different showrunner from Season 1 so that's happening again here too. Best to avoid potential complications? It's not implausible.

That said, I am hoping for some strong gap-filling tie-ins to Picard, once it's done if not while it's running. This show is asking SO MANY questions that I want tie-ins to answer. Anyone who's seen Stardust City Rag probably has the same new questions I do, for instance!

Was anyone else distracted by how much Bjayzl looked like TNG season 1 Troi?

For about half a second, I did think she might be Troi. Then they showed her full outfit, and I realized it probably wasn't, unless Marina Sirtis has the world's best physical trainer.

(Of course, Jeri Ryan looks like she could still pull off Seven's original uniform, so who knows?)

For what it’s worth, I seem to recall I believe it was Patrick Stewart, but definitely someone production-wise, expressing a hope that before Picard ends, all the TNG main cast will have appeared in the show, so Worf appearing on screen at some point is a goal, if nothing else.

But does anyone think we might get any new Picard books that take place or show us what the Enterprise-E is doing during this period in the new continuity? For Discovery we did have a novel that showed us what the Enterprise was doing during the first season.
The main reason we got an Enterprise-centric Disco novel was because Pike and the Enterprise are integral elements of the Disco season 2 storyline. Unless the Enterprise E gets featured somewhere in Picard, I'd suspect a novel based on it in Picard continuity is a low priority.

The further the show gets along, the more I realize that we can have equally compelling versions of the future. It might be a pipe dream, but I think it would be great to have one final trilogy to wrap up the novelverse and reset the timeline back to Nemesis and then do it all again.

I really think all the evidence is pointing to this happening. It’s just a matter of patience.

The STP vision of Trek almost feels a bit Mirror Universe in a way (and certainly in episode 5...) Of course reading The Last Best Hope there’s the scene where Picard is talking to Beverly and acknowledges that he doesn’t find the right words in time with her, ever. We could have the current Novelverse end on Picard waking up in his chateau before the start of STP, all a big dream on how it could have been if the Borg got their happy ending and he got his...

Picard must have a very specific and elaborate subconscious opinion on Mac Calhoun's chemistry with his former science officer, in that case.

I love dream stories and alternate universe stories when they're done well (a useless caveat, I know), but they can very quickly become nonsensical when applied after-the-fact. Or even before, going back to the very beginning of PIC (Jean-Luc has exterior establishing shots in his dreams?).

Jean-Luc has exterior establishing shots in his dreams?
I agree it's very unlikely for this to be a dream sequence, I think that's just wishful thinking from fans of the Novelverse however it could be possible if it were a dream that we aren't seeing his POV merely what happens so establishing shots don't disprove anything but I mean lets be honest, this won't be a dream or a mirror universe, that would be a bit cheap.

Here's a question, shifting tracks to the new Picard show (I thought about creating a new thread on the topic, but it kind of could apply to this one--and I'm reluctant to create new threads unless it's absolutely necessary).

It seems that the previous litverse has come to an end for the most part. We'll have one more Voyager book and I'll keep hoping against hope they'll be a DS9 finale (as unlikely as that probably is).

But does anyone think we might get any new Picard books that take place or show us what the Enterprise-E is doing during this period in the new continuity? For Discovery we did have a novel that showed us what the Enterprise was doing during the first season. We don't know what the Enterprise-E is doing after Picard gets his promotion other than it wasn't involved with the evacuation. I wonder if we might get almost an alternate timeline story of what was happening on the Enterprise under Captain Worf. Perhaps it might even be able to incorporate one or two litverse characters into this alternate timeline (assuming we don't get a lot of information from the Picard show about the Enterprise during those years--leaving things open to be filled in). I might be curious to see a novel written in the new continuity that shows us what they are up to in the new continuity, a la "The Enterprise War" for Discovery. Perhaps it might even explore what happened to the DS9 and Voyager characters in this new timeline in some fashion that aren't already part of the show (or perhaps future books might explore that as well).

And one of the minor nitpicks I have from "The Last Best Hope" was that there was no real final farewell of Picard to the Enterprise. A new Enterprise based Picard novel might incorporate that in a bit more detail, using the framework from "The Last Best Hope" to flesh that out just a bit more at the start.
If it was me I would make a point of avoiding anything that isn't specifically introduced on the show. I have a feeling they're probably going to want to avoid any contradictions if at all possible, so establishing things about something as important as the Enerprise-E without the show setting things up first seems like a bad idea to me.

The comment from David Mack was in reference to Data and Lal in Control, so I'm pretty sure it's not going to be related to Picard.

I've seen Necar Zadigan in a several other shows and movies, and I never realized before that she really does look a lot like a young Marina Sirtis. When I first saw her, I thought maybe she was a deaged Marina Sirtis.
After this week's episode I would love to get a novel about Seven's time with the Fenris Rangers.

If prefer a Rios novel before anyone else, but I'd enjoy a book about the Fenris Rangers starting Seven of Nine.
