New photos from episode 4 'The Butcher...'

It doesn't look like an Andorian. But then again, Discovery Klingons...

I think they'll at least keep them some kind of cross between Enterprise and TOS. Stiffer taller antenna and the little wriggly ones, blue and green skinned etc

Is it my imagination or is the alien in the background sporting the antennae we thought might be Andorian?

Also, and undercut seems to be a requirement for sitting at the Discovery front consoles.

L'rell is obviously a fan of the Night King from GoT.

I hadn't really picked up in the previous eps just HOW much taller Saru is than Burnham!

Curious biology though - if his species were prey, a really long gangly physique might actually be a disadvantage - makes it hard to hide, and counter to popular opinion and the Usain Bolt example, tall folk usually don't run fast over short sprints, which is what's needed to escape a predator.

Giraffes?

Giraffes?

Yes, but their height is an adaptation to gaining food, not defence against predators. That said, their size does offput many predator species - but Saru says there's no complex food webs on his world, just his species and predators who "hunted, bred and farmed" them... which makes even less sense! Why breed a gangly species with almost no meat on it?

I suppose this could be a form of rebellion, if Saru's species developed intelligence after this factory farming - stay thin so you won't make a good meal!

The predator species likes ribs.

Not all of his race may be that size. I mean if you took a deer or gazelle and made it humanoid, it would be tall. He may not even be tall for his world.

Just looked it up: Doug Jones is 6'4" and Green is 5'4". Wow, already that's a huge difference! On his "hoof" boots I think they said he's nearly 7 feet tall.

Looks like another interesting Alien crew member in the background of one of the pics as well. Kinda looks like he/she has a snake's head.

A Selay, possibly? Nah, probably not.

Selay! This was exactly my wish in that "what established aliens do you want to see in Discovery" thread, I would love to see the Selay realized with modern technology. I'm still hoping it'll happen, but I don't think this is one...

8 legs, 3 lungs, 4 kidneys and 3 stomachs? no wonder it eats so much.

Sadly enough, my initial reaction to reading that was that of "mmm, hot dog". Not sure why... I don't think I'm possessed...

Nice photos! Interesting that Burnham's in Starfleet garb again so soon.
When I first looked at the picture I was taken a bit aback by the sight of her in the uniform again. That's weird because she was out of uniform for only one episode. But I suspect my feeling might be because we saw in such detail what she did that might have ensured she never wore it again. I don't think I would have had that feeling about the pic if the show had started with Context is for Kings.

I don't know, I saw an episode of Planet Earth where an adult Giraffe flat out ran a group of female lions looking for lunch. That hoof race went on for way longer than I thought it would have. The lions finally just said "screw it". Maybe Saru and his people have some hidden defenses we aren't yet aware of.

Well it was pretty clear at the conclusion of "Context" that Lorca wanted her as a member of the crew. Note she has no badge or rank.
Wouldn't surprise me if she gets her rank back sooner rather than later.

Mind you that will upset Stamets, then again he seems to be permanently upset anyway so no real change there.

We know Lorca already has two commanders that we have seen in Saru (Command) and Landry (Security), Burnham could end up back as a Commander (Science).
