Seems pointless after the wonderfully meta Wes Craven's A New Nightmare wrapped up the series. At least it's not a sequel, but I have a hard time seeing how a remake wouldn't tread old ground. And after enduring the horrid remakes of Friday the 13th (you have to work hard for the source material there to look superior) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre I think I'll pass.
I love A Nightmare On Elm Street, and the remake looks polished and sharp. I like that Jackie Earl Haley's take is going to be more menacing and less jokey this time around. If anything I want to see it because of him.
I'm not one to get worked up over remakes but nothing about this give me a reason to check this out, it looks like it just hits all the beats we've seen before. Maybe for the young'uns?
Ugh. The nightmare idea feels completely tired and played out even in this trailer.
Personally I would have rather just seen another Jason vs Freddy movie. I thought the first one was a fun guilty pleasure, and pitting them against each other is the only thing that makes them remotely worth watching again.
Of all the horror remake trailers I've seen over the last few years, this one looks the least annoying. No desire to pay for it in the theater, but it looks worth renting somewhere down the road.
