To clear the matter of the Robau surname. The name did come from the Gorona (Catalonia) of Spain and France border. What is now Villa Robau. Before that the Robau's were huguenots that escaped religious persecution. The Robau's then migrated to Latin America in Cuba. The name was of French and German decent which was used to hide from the persecutors. Most have now migrated to Texas and Florida. There is only one in Puerto Rico. It's not a common surname in PR. There are few left in Cuba. Some are in German and some scattered. There was only one in NYC but I moved to Florida. The real Richard Robau who producer Robert Orci (nephew) named Captain Robau after lives in Hollywood Florida.

There was a young general; Jose Luis Robau (a decendent of mine) who fought valliantly in the war of independence against the Spanish in Cuba from 1867 to about 1876. The De Robau mentioned was this same individual. There is a museum and a bust in a park in Sagua La Grande in the Santa Clara region of Cuba.

Mister Robert Orci has also used the name in the Antonio Banderas Zorro movie. He found the name interesting since it's not as common.

There is also a connection with the Robau's of pre-castro Cuba which ties them to the goverment of Havana. And to a famous Cuban author who fought alongside Che Guevera and Fidel Castro in the taking of Batista's Cuba.

the exact origins of any possible German connection for what Villa Robau really has to offer is of interest to me. If anyone knows please write me at: ConeyHOP@aol.com

I find the story of the war in Cuba with the young Robau general to make a wonderful story for a film which I hope I plan to approach Robert Orci with in the future.

And I must say it was an interesting read of this thread to see others finding an interest in the Robau name.

I shall have to visit this place so that I can bask in the presence of greatness!

I would totally watch this film! It would be so awesome to see another Robau on screen kicking ass and taking names! I wish my ancestors had done badass things worthy of mention. :(

Not just an interest in his name, we worship the man like a god around here! Its good to know that there are/were real life bad ass Robaus. Perhaps humanity has a chance after all?
