New Nickname for Captain Robau

Googling aroud I discovered that the old church at Vili-Robau dates from the 10th Century and Robau is derived from a German word ‘Hrotbaldi’ or ‘Rodebalb’. The name might date back to the Visigoths a Germanic tribe who ruled the Iberian penninsula from the5th to the 7th Century. Many place and family names in Iberia have Visogothic origins.

Well, there you have it.

Very interesting; thanks! Makes me want to study up on that area, but I'm sure idleness will set in and the urge will pass.

...The village itself seems to have occupied that spot for a very long time, and would have seen Romans, Huns, various hordes of Germanic barbarians and other groups trooping through or staying for a while, over the centuries.
That sounds about right; even the name "Richard" is Norman, not strictly French. There must be a feature in the village to deserve its longevity, like a river crossing or confluence. And if you can't find it online, I'm confident it's pretty much non-findable online.
The village is in fact next to the river Fluvià (see map in my link below)

...and there is reference in this translated article to a Roman bridge nearby which is not still standing today, but which once connected Vila-robau with the main town in the district.

Great stuff! The bridge was the feature then. There are 65 residents of the village, and all the Robaus went forth into Latin America and thence the galaxy from there. Here is the current church, the only picture at wiki. Great little article; thanks!

Just as an aside, the article calls the village Villareal Robau, meaning it was a "royal town." Here's a definition:

Villarreal is a combination of the two Spanish words villa, meaning town, and real, meaning royal. Thus, Villarreal means royal town in Spanish. Several towns in Spain have this name, and probably signify that a King kept a royal residence there.

So fitting for Captain Robau.

Yes, I'm well aware that Picard and Robau are real French names. I was trying to be...God knows what I was trying to be. And mind your quotes; I've never seens startrekrcks make a post that long.

Since Robau spent a lot of his Starfleet career policing the Federation, how about we call him "Robau Cop?"

^ Excellent. (How many pages back on Google was that?) Like everything on Cuba, it needs a coat of paint.

Well, that's odd; I did a "de Robau" search, too -- and either it didn't come up or I missed it.

Robau would like to be called as little as possible, if you guys must know. He's too busy and super-badass to pick up every time we less-worthy types try to contact him.
