New Netflix Exclusive Star Trek Series Coming?

At Phoenix Comicon, Star Trek author and producer Larry Nemecek has announced that CBS is in talks with Netflix to produce a new series that would air on the streaming service.

Figured as much. We've heard this sort of thing before only to be let down that it wasn't happening. Somebody started up a Facebook group claiming to be involved or having something to do with it. Though that may be a separate thing from this one.

What did doubleohfive say to disprove it? I don't see his post in here.

Except "Trek" is only one of dozens of possibilities CBS/Netflix are discussing per Larry Nemecek, who was misquoted by the over-excited poster.

How I wish they would bring the Nu cast to TV. That would be grand!!!

Um.... isn't this how it was before a Star Trek prequel, then sequel trilogy? Or any number of reboots of popular franchises in recent years? A new Trek series is an eventual fatalistic outcome that can't be stopped. It's coming and it whatever form it comes, I fully expect it to be debunked, rebuked and otherwise dismissed as Malarky of the Highest Order but it's coming someday. A new Trek series is Inevitable.

Agreed. It appears that's becoming more common now too, at least if Disney/Marvel are any indication.

Yeah, that's why I'm kind of hoping it happens. Although I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see a new series set post-Nemesis.

I just want something in the prime timeline. Whether or not most people agree is whatever. I would prefer it. However any new Trek series on the small screen would be amazing!!!

Yeah, I'd prefer the Prime timeline as well, but it would be interesting to see what they could do with this new universe. After all, the whole point of creating a new timeline was to open up story possibilities and not be constrained by 50 years of canon.

I don't care if the new Star Trek series was centered around Sybok's quixotic mission to lead the Kazon on a mission to steal Spock's brain and take it to Ligon II - I would still watch it, and love hating every minute of it.
