Wikipedia isn't for fans, we already know how Kirk looks through the episodes, depending on the tone of the story. For anyone looking for more information on Star Trek and Kirk in particular, the new picture works much better. To look at the old picture without any other point of reference, one might think that Kirk was a mysterious or villainous character.
For anyone not familiar with Star Trek, the old picture would provide a more accurate visual impression of the character. It's grainier, but more illustrative of the personality of James T. Kirk.
I prefer this image slightly more, though: James Kirk.
Is there any way we can crop that image, blow it up and use it? That's from The Corbomite Maneuver, right? Maybe we could just get a really good screencap of that shot from the episode itself. Unfortunately, I don't know how.

You know, AC84, you could have just changed the picture and not said anything.![]()
I thought about that, but I really felt like I needed a second or third opinion. I'm still hoping someone has an even better picture of Kirk than the new and old one. One with great lighting where he is puffing his chest.
I have also been pondering about replacing the main picture used at the top of the Star Trek (franchise) page. One with Kirk and Spock and the new Star Trek logo used on the official magazine/Tokyo Pop Manga/2008 Movie ...which happens to be the old TOS one.
