New Kelvin wallpapers

nice wallpapers. to bad the ship design sucks!

I can't believe you can look at this image or this image and say the design sucks!

The design does suck. Those are nice looking pictures, yes. But that doesn't change the horrible design of the ship. After all, you wouldn't call an ugly person "hot" just because you saw a picture of them naked, would you?

:vulcan: What a bizarre analogy. If they look good in the picture, they are surely not ugly by definition.
"Those are nice looking pictures". Yet the design, apparently, sucks. Therefore, I presume there are dozens of pics showing the ship looking awful to explain your opinion despite these nice looking pictures. Could you show us these?

Just sit back and watch Enterprise. NX-1 (which I have now decided should be its true registry) was an ass ugly ship, but the show actually had some half decent CGI that could make it look okay, but it was still an ugly ship.

An ugly ship that looks good on screen. :vulcan: Interestingly, I'm OK with that for a movie. See, I was going to view it on a big screen.

And so you're throwing out your 'canon' argument for your leading zero argument, by altering previous canonical elements to suit your opinion? Hmmm.

Wel that's your opinion, which most of us disagree on, therefore you must be in the wrong.

RAMA

Nah ... he's not wrong, it is an ugly ship. But that's its charm for me. It's actually now one of my favorite starship designs, ugliness and all.

I think Captain April's point, at least as far as I interpret it, is that he doesn't like the ship, but he does like the technical and/or artistic merits of its presentation in those images. This could include the quality of the render, its composition, lighting choices, and possibly details.

For some reason the utter hugeness of the warp nacelle really didnt strike me full force until i saw these wallpapers. It took me a while to warm up to this design of the Kelvin (I had the same reaction to the new Enterprise as well), but now I like it, registry and all (i dunno, i like the 0 in there, no particular rational behind it). The Kelvin design is completely new and fresh IMO, and I think that's what I like the most. Its not a design we've seen before or some re-hashing of whats already been.

The dedication plaque should now read

USS ENTERPRISE

Constitution Class

NCC - 1701

Built wherever the damn hell we SAY it is, bitches
