New Job FTW

Tiberius Jim

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Today marks my first day of being once again employed. A few days past a month after RadioShack railroaded me into leaving, I've accepted a full-time position at FedEx Office.

Unfortunately, it isn't the graphic design job I was hoping for since leaving school with my degree, but it's a paycheck, and a significant pay increase from my previous job. I also interviewed with some companies for design positions, so there is still the possibility of being hired on with one of those after all...but for now I am quite happy and relieved to be once again employed, as I was nearing a time when I would need to dip into savings just to pay bills...and that's no good at all.

BTW I do promise to try and keep any complaining about customers to a minimum since while it may be a print shop, it is still a retail-esque environment. I've at least branched outside of electronics retail, so that's a plus. :)

Hey man...in this economy...you take what you can get. Congrats, and keep searching for your dream job.

What happened at Radio Shack? Did I miss a thread?

Have fun collating.

Actually, copy places aren't that bad if you get projects to do. I did that for one summer.

I don't remember if I made a thread or not...I was pretty upset by the whole thing and was tired of talking about it. Basically, our store's register was continuously short of cash when deposits were done. Somehow my time sheet matched up perfectly to when money was missing, and I was usually the person doing the deposit...so based on that circumstantial evidence alone, without any admission of guilt, eye witnesses or video evidence...I was terminated. I suspect someone may have been manipulating my time sheet to make it appear that I was the only one in the store who was always there when the cash went missing, but I have no way to prove it. In the end I now have a better job with better pay with a better company, so I say good riddance to them and hope they crash and burn like my last employer did.

Yeah you did make a thread, I checked your thread history and found it, reading through it now.

Sorry to hear about the time you had at RS, but in the end you're probably better off so long as they don't muck up your employment history.

Good luck in your new job, Flux.

:techman:

Yeah, the only thing I'm worried about now is the BS from RadioShack showing up on a background check, but since I was never brought up on any sort of criminal charges, I think I'm okay.

Congrats on the new job, Flux. Better pay and working conditions is the best revenge. :bolian:

Well, no, seeing the clown who framed you crash and burn and Radio Shack having to pay you a settlement would be the best revenge. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks. I high doubt I'll ever see another cent from RadioShack. Since California is an at-will state there isn't much I can do legally. I will take comfort in the fact that I will be making more than my old manager, though.

Still waiting for a call from my manager that my drug test results have come back and my actual start date. My worst addiction is coffee, so I have no fears there. :techman:

Congrats.

I'm looking for a new job too. Just in the space of this morning I've applied for 7 different jobs. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. I've had enough with the job I've got, too many douchebags in management. They could do with a good slapping, if it wasn't a criminal offence I'd have done it by now, damn laws!

Congrats Flux.

You are not the only one that's been accused of doing something you didn't do. My wife got terminated from a local credit union on trumped up acquisitions, then tried to convince us they paid the salary they owed her. They didn't give her all her paid time off that she had just used. Utah laws had some protection against that and as soon as I wrote the required letter and hand delivered it to branch manager, they started singing a different tune. Later they tried to screw us out of the accured 401K she had by having HR ignore our requests to role it over to an IRA. An email carpet bomb to half the board later and the HR guy was eating out of my hand.

That's because Radio Shack sucks. Honestly, I don't know how they're still in business.

Radio Shack, you've got questions, we've got batteries. Oh, not that battery that you're looking for of course.

Radio Shack is where you go if you want to pay a premium price for the cool new product of 3 years ago.

Yeah, before I worked there I went in there once to get some speaker wire. Before that I had never had a need to shop there. I always felt shitty having to ask for people to give us their email addresses and try to push new cell phones and crapgadgets on them. My girlfriend still works there at a different location, and actually has a good manager, but she's still dealing with RS being a shit company. I wouldn't be surprised if they're gone in the next few years.

At least with FedEx the worst I need to do is upsell people to nicer looking paper.
