New image and new trailer (almost)

yes after watching End of Time, I just dont see what harm will come to a show if it has a male companion. I just dont buy into this notion it HAS to be a female companion. Heck Clyde from SJA was a great companion in Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane.

Ratings. Take away the customary cute female companion and you might suffer a bit with straight males.
you know im pretty sure the Doctor is going to meet new people, some of them could well be female (or the female of the alien species)

I see no storyline reason why the Doctor cant have a male companion as the main companion, and maybe a female companion who comes along for a few episodes (like Captain Jack)

Personally I would continue to watch the show, if it switched form one regular female companion, to a series which featured a new female hotty in each episode.

I'd agree, and I don't see why you couldn't have a male companion--look how succesful a pairing the Doctor and Wilf was. The Doctor and Jack. Frankly the notion that people will watch a show purely for eye candy is a bit insulting. And given that I'd imagine more people fancied Rose and Martha than Donna, Donna was by far the better companion. Personally I think the show has got into a slight rut since the end of the Davison era. The Doctor may only have one companion and she must be a woman.

I think Wamdue's right, why does the eye candy have to be the companion? Frankly in the Shakespeare Code I was drooling more over Cristina Cole than Freema. In fact most of the women I've fancied most in the new series have been the guest stars rather than the companions.

Agreed. The Classic series had a male companion for the first nine years (longer if you count The Brigadier). The first time The Doctor had a female only companion for any length of time outside of U.N.I.T. (meaning no Brig, Benton, or Mike) was Sarah Jane after Harry left. I want to see more male companions in the future, ones who last more than a few episodes (as oppose to Adam, Jack, and Mickey).

Regardless of the trailer being basic looking, it is, as i pointed out to a friend of mine who thought it sucked, filmed almost specifically as a 3D movie trailer.

I still love it though.

Cant wait, only a few weeks to go.

Next month's issue of SFX has a lenticular Who cover.

Nice, but as the next issue issue ain't out till 10th March, how did you get a copy of that?

lol, i thought the same when i saw it posted earlier.

Still, cool fraking cover to look forward too.

they say the companion's supposed to be the POV and identification character for the audience. i identify with men more than women, thanks.

Not too worried about the trailer. What I'm most concerned/excited to hear is the theme tune. I've loved Murray Gold's versions from the last few years so I can't wait to see if they change it again or keep it as is. I noticed in the trailer they used the current tune, but that means nothing.

Murray Gold has confirmed he's doing a new version of the theme.

Hopefully they slow it down a bit. Personally I would love something along the lines of the TV Movie theme.

I did not like what Mr Gold did to the Theme during Tennant's last few episodes.

Ha ha, I am being semi-serious though. There are women I like purly for their looks, then there are others who I like for their looks and talent, and then there are those I like purly for their talent without any ulterior motives. Millie fits into the middle category

Well moving on.. I did think that Matt Smith did have some gravitas as the Doctor. When he said to Amy, 'I'm the doctor' it felt real. the rest of the vortex stuff was childish and look like it should have been part of SJA.

I just think people are taking this thing far too literally. It was presented basically like some crazy, stylized dream sequence, and got across the sense of wonder and adventure in the new season really well I thought.

It certainly got me excited for it.

Yeah, it was a special made for the cinema 3D advert. Frankly it excites me more than that stuoid Doctor/Martha one that came before S3!

Starkers has had that avatar for a while now, and whilst she is a good looking woman in a suggestive pose, she has it all coverd and the left arm looks a bit to thin.

there are more suggestive avatars on the forum than this,
