I had the opportunity to attend a convention a few weeks ago where Alan Stern, New Horizon's PI, was the keynote speaker. And it was fascinating hearing him speak about his project, what he had to do to convince NASA to take it on after other failed project attempts throughout the years, the anticipation of it approaching Pluto, and the future of New Horizon's project. Even got to ask him if he thought there was a possibility of life on Pluto, and he responded that it was a remote possibility. It should be really interesting to see the new data come in. As he explained, what we've seen so far is only a fraction of the data, that New Horizon's was still busy transmitting, that we'd be receiving more in the coming months. He was like a giddy kid in a candy store explaining all this.
