New Fuller Interview; Season 1 = 13 (Serialized) Episodes

Mostly sounds good but I'm disappointed with only 13 episodes.

Mr Awe
I'm glad it's 13 and not 10. 10 feels like the season starts and then the next minute it's over and you have to wait another year.

I'm excited it will be serialized, but I've always preferred the DS9/Farscape model of serialization, where you let your characters grow rather than plot plot plot. I don't mind a one off episode here or there, but with only 13 episodes, there's probably no time for that.

Yeah, 13 is a good number. More than that you end up with crappy filler episodes to pad out the season and less than that just isn't enough. Game of Thrones feels like it just started back up again and the season finale is on Sunday.

So not an Anthology and not set before TNG. Also hinting at seeing familiar characters so that would seem to rule out a big time jump into the future.

The familiar characters part makes me think that it's going to be set 16 years after Voyager. Keep the 24th century synced up to our time to allow for guest appearances by Picard or whomever.

This news discounts an episode-by-episode anthology. It does not discount a season-by-season anthology, which was the original rumor anyway.

That's what I've been hoping for, so fingers crossed. Set it twenty years after where we left off (more or less) and you have a fertile new ground for storytelling, but also leave yourself open for the return of characters if they serve a good purpose.

Yes no anthology, ugh, I hated the idea of a first Trek series in 12 years being anthology. If this were a 2nd show, than sure go ahead.

I'd like it to be prime, but "familiar characters" doesn't require it. Just as we got Khan in the Kelvin timeline, familiar characters appearing could be the alt-universe ones and probably played by other actors so they can be younger fresher faces.

When I read the article, I found the new Star Trek teaser there. There, I found these 4 sentence : New Crews, New Villains, New Heroes, New World. What does it mean with New World? A new setting?

Not a post-TOS anthology .... Thank Christ for that.
The dummy who thought that thought up that rumor should be-- ahh .... "run out of town on a rail." Yes. That's it.

And why the emphasis on LGBT? What's that got to do with anything?
Why shoehorn that in so you can say:
"Look!!! We have a LGBT character!!" Why this obsession with that?

My biggest worry at the moment is that it ends up being really politically correct and preachy. For all the talk about how Star Trek addresses social issues, they've never been very good at it. And in my opinion I don't see the need for it. I'm not going to change my views on something just because it's in Star Trek and I doubt many people will. Just tell a good story with great characters and don't try to be a social warrior.

A new show can be "progressive" without being preachy. There are already people on social media saying" "oh no, the gays"! so clearly we still need to progress a long way.

Why shouldn't we have a queer character? Apart from you not wanting it?
