New Fan Film Series, Star Trek: New Era

First, could someone explain in a nutshell this Lord Voldemort thing?
See "2nd"
2nd, We're well versed in what happened and IS happening with Axanar! We dont intend to make the same mistakes,

Good idea, because AP & Friends have pulled some whoppers.
or what is view as the same mistakes by Paramount/ CBS.
Neither Paramount nor CBS have made any mistakes thus far.

Just a thought, but telling potential donors that they'll have to wait to find out who is running your project is like Nancy Pelosi telling voters that they have to pass a bill to find out what's in it. Just not good PR, in my opinion.

Sorry I'm still list on this lord v thing... And no worries well be revealing our team shortly! And what I meant was view as mistakes by paramount/ cbs not that they made mistakes :p Thank you!

Just an observation-
TMP style stories are great for novels but I am trying to imagine what it would take to recreate those sets today. TOS Bridges are difficult as it is and those are faceted planes which can be made from plywood and lexan/Plexiglas. TMP style bridge units would been fiberglass molding at least. The Engineering set is multi-level with transparent floors plus some exotic lighting in the warp core. Almost all the sets in the Motion Picture used formed shapes and sweeping curves, that was part of the more advanced look they were using to distinguish themselves visually from the original series.
I wish you luck in this endeavor, but I personally think setting your series in that particular era is going to be daunting, especially for a fan film with limited funds.

It IS a daunting task let me tell you which is why we need the help! However the gains far outweigh the money and time I think... Originally we were undecided on if we should do the stories after the motion picture or after Star Trek V since the sets were much easier to construct! But after much debate we came to the conclusion that the stories of what happened after v'ger were much more interesting and had much more potential for really experiencing the Star Trek universe!

I believe he means AP and Axanar, as he who shall not be named...

I imagine you could cheat this a little with some TWOK to UC styles, with TMP paint scheme, I mean do people nitpick Potemkin's bridge size, of the square bridge of Antyllus?
As for the verbage Alpha Quantrant, et. al do what you want, but make the story good.

So to New Era, as for the verbage Alpha Quantrant, et. al do what you want, but make the story good. I think you will need to do something well before you ask for cash, try a vignette on a green screen first and see what your team can do. But I hope you cast very slim actors, I even want to think about someone like me in a TMP jump suit, I look scary enough in my TOS shirt...

Well at least your engaging some of the comments here, and are not the usual 'dump and run' crowd funding poster we usually get.

Well were going to try to bridge the gap so you'll see different styles worked in as we go along! Also we've got some very interesting and clever ideas for sets and to diminish costs butits still going to take a hunk of change!

As for Axanar, or Lord V, we're not spending this money on anything but the film itself.. Were not paying salaries or building a studio for anything other then New Era... We're also hoping that once sets are built that other fans who want to make their own sttmp style fan films and series will make use of them!

As for costumes, well it is what it is... Though as a little side tidbit we do know there's a change at some point to the more militaristic twok style and we intend to explain why!

Well were very serious and dedicated to this project! And we completely understand what and how people feel about Star Trek, fan films and crowdfunding in general! We try to respond to everyone that messages us!

Welcome to the board!

I hope your endeavour can succeed. But, as has been said before (in a nutshell): Proof of concept is a must have!

I'd suggest, you would carefully read through some threads here within Fan Productions. You'll find valuable information regarding anything. And one of the most helpful people coming from a professional part of the industry is also here, although you've labelled him straightaway as a "troll".
And if you read most about Axanar and CBS/Paramount anywhere on the net, you'd probably find out, the TrekBBS may be a Rock and a Hard Place for the Drive-Bys...

Have fun, have luck - and, btw. I don't donate!

Thank you and I understand! It's not all about money though! We want input and hype! And of course anyone that wants to contribute in other ways can always contact us!

Sogni d'oro, dear Maurice!
But, but, mine will connect the-dots and be made by lots-o-talent that I'll get around to telling you about later. And Andy Probert will design seat cushions for the crew will sit on, but only if you all give me $200K. No coffee, tho. :D

It sounds like you have some pretty ambitious plans, but I'm not seeing a lot to back them up at this point. I'll be honest, I've never donated to anything like this, but I have thought about it for a few projects, but based on what's been shared so far I'm not even slightly tempted. You can talk all you want about how great your project his and how big your plans are, but without something to back it up you're not going to get a lot of support.

OK, that's all I ever wanted needed. You have my money!!

Again, this project is just starting out... We appreciate any support of any kind and understand if you don't want too!

Also it sounds like trolling to me ;)
