Always trust a Trek fan to buy negative information presented to them online, not supported with any evidence, rather than look at the facts in front of them.
Discovery has massive buzz. They've just done a massive weekend at Comic Con, hyping the show. The media are starting to jump onboard the hype train. CBS have licensed out book deals and comic deals. Reaction to the trailers has been remarkably positive, if you remove the cynical Trek fans who were never going to like what they saw despite what they might claim. CBS talk about how Discovery is the show they are banking on helping them double their All Access subscriber numbers.
This is not a show CBS lacks faith in. Stop trying to suggest otherwise.
As far as this theory that Netflix will not want a second season because the first got delayed, or because they don't like the quality - how rediculous. Netflix have sunk huge money into this show, and they've done that based on how Trek performs for them across the globe, and because they will have information that tells them that their Trek subscribers tend to stay long term and spend more money with them as a result. Netflix have more information to hand to help them commission shows than any other TV/Film service on the planet. They literally give that information to showrunners to help them work out the pacing of their stories, narrative style, etc.
But hey, more fun to create elaborate theories about the demise of Discovery, no? And to see people writing about a supposed CW Trek show being a better option... how do you propose CW afford such a show? They were slashing ENT's budget over ten years ago, when ENT was getting better numbers than most of CW shows get nowadays.
