New Complete TWOK Remastered Soundtrack Album From LA LA LAND

Seriously? Joachim had to like physically force him to retreat and he was absolutely furious. Then seconds later he breaks out into laughter?

Here's something different for everyone to enjoy. When preparing the new Star Trek II album for La-La Land Records, we did all of our work in 96/24 hi-res. For disc 2 we re-built the OST from our new analog-to-digital transfers. However, in the process of listening to the album and knowing the history of this title, it was decided not to use that for the OST presentation, instead relying on the original digital-to-analog transfers made back in 1982.

In the meantime, as part of my research for the album, I noticed the digital streaming copy of the original Star Trek II album wasn't accurate, using the FSM master instead of the original album master. This meant some takes were not quite correct. So I had an idea. What if our unreleased recreation of the original album in hi-res 96/24 was made available? This would get the music out in genuine hi-res and it would be better than the digital streaming copy currently available.

So friends, here it is, the original Star Trek II soundtrack album from 1982, remixed and mastered in 96/24 hi-res. I hope you enjoy it.

Not to sound ignorant (he said ignorantly) but is there much point in picking this up if one already has the full album?

It's not critical, but if one were interested in hearing the album sequence from the analog tapes (the OST portion of the LLL release didn't use those tapes) then sure. It's really for a different segment of the market and to correct mistakes from the previous streaming master.

I posted this elsewhere.

For those interested, tracks 1-6 of this hi-res album master correspond with tracks 1, 9, 7, 10, 3, and 5 from disc 1. They're identical. Track 7 corresponds with disc 1, track 16, but does not have the "Wild Orchestra" overlay. "Genesis Countdown" is the same as disc 1, track 18 except for the short insert used on the OST. Finally the "Epilogue/End Title" is the same mix as disc 1, track 21 but now has (heaven help me) Nimoy's voice over and also the short insert at the end of the "End Titles."

You'll get zero complaints from me. We have had that track without his voice-over for years since the 50th Anniversary Set and you gave it new life on the 2-Disc set. I think it's great that you're offering the original album this way, voice-over and all.

I like being able to choose whether or not to hear the voiceover, FWIW.

But it's 'weird' to me not to hear it, because it's so integral to the end of the film in my memory.
