New Complete TWOK Remastered Soundtrack Album From LA LA LAND

Must have missed that one while I was comparing track listings.
Apologies. I should have noted that the (No Spock Monologue) was my addition. Outside of the 50th Anniversary Collection (Track 56: Epilogue/End Title (sans narration)), no soundtrack release of TWOK has ever advertised the presence or lack of Spock's narration and this new release is no exception. It's definitely not going to have his narration on Disc 1.

<.<
>.>

Of course, doubt will always live in my head rent free because it is such a charismatically persuasive bugger. Sure that article stated the track doesn't have narration, but something could happen between now and when I actually get my hands on this new release. That narration could still be there and the article got it wrong! Or maybe something went wrong in creating the discs and Spock's Narration got put on Disc 1 by mistake! Maybe they wanted his narration on the disc all along.... After all, the sample of Epilogue / End Title on Disc 1 still cuts off right before the narration was supposed to begin, so who is to say otherwise?

....NO! La-La Land is great people. Even in moments where their work has disappointed, I never hesitated in saying they were the best of the best. This soundtrack will is not going to disappoint.

Well, Spock narration or not I still ended up buying the set. If it’s missing the one with his narration I do have it from the Retro/Film Score version.

Wait. I'm confused. Does the end credits track on disc 1 contain the Nimoy narration or not? I don't know if you guys are joking or if you're talking about the first or second disc for sure. Because I don't like the narration and I'd be more inclined to get the set if the disc 1 did not contain the narration. Thanks if anybody can clarify this.
EDIT: it looks like from the review that I read that the narration is not on the disc 1 which is of course the disc that I'm most interested in. Knowing this I'm going to find it even harder to resist buying this new release. I wish somebody would come out and say that it really doesn't sound that much better so I could keep myself from buying this soundtrack yet again!

**UPDATE!**
Article was pulled from the website. Here's hoping it will be back online when the album goes on sale in 21 minutes.

jameshorner-filmmusic.com posted a highly detailed review of the soundtrack that covers an incredible amount of detail with regards to how this release stacks up to all the previous releases of this soundtrack thus far.

UNEXPECTED NEW EDITION OF STAR TREK II FROM LA-LA LAND: OUR EXCLUSIVE REVIEW

T-Minus 1 hour and 43 minutes!

As I already own the 2009 release I was pretty on the fence about this one, but this review is compelling.

Everyone who worked on these soundtracks, we salute you!

I wonder whether I still have my cassette tape of the TWOK score...though if I did, I'd be afraid to try to play it...

OK, @Indysolo . I can't for the life of me tell the difference between the two Genesis Countdown tracks. Where is the alternate take again?

You mean you can't tell the the album version is two frames shorter because of the insert? ;)

Do you have the GNP album? You can really hear the insert there. It's around 5 minutes in. My edit's a little more graceful.
Wow. I was looking in the wrong place. Ok, if I'm REALLY looking for it I can hear where it is on the GNP. I can kind of see it in the waveform in a music editor but I can't hear it on your mix. I cannot hear the glitch in the film that caused the patch to begin with.

Thanks, Neil!

*Checks GNP Record
Insert occurs at 5:00 right on the dot. I've always noticed that insert but never paid too much attention to it. Now I know why that edit sounded so off thanks to your details Neil. I can keep all my Star Trek II soundtrack CDs since each one contains something special. :D

It's funny, I have a hard time sometimes enjoying an album because I know where all the edits are. I hate revealing where things are because I don't want people to suffer the same problem.

If enough time passes I can usually forget but some are printed on my brain.
