Interesting, but that would only involvr an ok from one family. There's a hint that this might have changed - footage of Kate O'Mara from DIT was used in The Reality War.
Maybe that was just a one-off and they paid for that second of footage.

Maybe, maybe not. It's a difficult position for the BBC because they obviously want to commission animations. So does the confirmed discovery of missing episodes (with the probability of still more to come) push the release date of season 1 and seasons 3-6 back further than they already are?
They also animate the full story even when live action episode exist. So, finding missing episodes doesn't change the calculations cost-wise and time-wise for the animations.Maybe, maybe not. It's a difficult position for the BBC because they obviously want to commission animations.
I guess the thing is that any extra episodes will probably also come back in small numbers so we're not talking about complete stories.
So if they're currently working on animating The Myth Makers for example, if one episode turns up it probably doesn’t change the calculation. They’ve just got an episode to add to the release.
The one exception is probably the most relevant one - I doubt a 12-part animation (13 including Mission to the Unknown) would be viable, but they could maybe fill in the gaps now there are five existing. Seven episodes might be doable. They also animate the full story even when live action episode exist. So you're right, if one turned up, they'd just add it to the collection.

Yeah that Mission animation was a professional pitch, so it's excellent. If it could be cleared, that would be a perfect solution.I still think the Levine commissioned version remains the best one, frankly. But this one's not bad at all!
I'm not sure about that. The BBC seems pretty dead set against forcing viewers to watch a mix of live-action and animated episodes. Personally, I don't mind that at all. It's how I normally watch them. Live-action when possible, otherwise animated. But it seems like there are enough viewers who don't like that to make the BBC hesitant to force that. The one exception is probably the most relevant one - I doubt a 12-part animation (13 including Mission to the Unknown) would be viable, but they could maybe fill in the gaps now there are five existing. So a season 6 set will include complete animations for the rest of The Invsasion, then? How about Ice Warriors and Reign of Terror?I'm not sure about that. But yeah, if it it increases the chance of getting DMP animated, I'm all for just animated the missing episodes!
I think the point being made was recent animations [of partially missing serials] have animated the whole serial as BBC wants a "consistent product" for viewers. See The Faceless Ones, The Abominable Snowmen, The Celestial Toymaker, The Underwater Menace, The Evil of the Daleks, etc.So a season 6 set will include complete animations for the rest of The Invsasion, then? They posted a brief making-of for this video on YouTube today. It's mostly Davison and Fielding trash-talking each other.....at last, some new Dr Who.

Sorry, yes, I mean recent animations. Although, it's possible for them to revisit for DMP. For the sake of getting that one done, yes, I hope they go that route. They seem to have changed to 'preferring consistency' in recent years. While the Beeb might prefer presentation consistency, they still went with mixed formats for The Reign of Terror, The Moonbase, Web of Fear and the incomplete Shada.
I liked when Peter said something like "I'll just call up Sarah [Sutton]" after talking about how Fielding injured herself. Those two were bickering like an old married couple. They posted a brief making-of for this video on YouTube today. It's mostly Davison and Fielding trash-talking each other.
