New Cast Photos

I'd rather they got actors who could act the most like Sulu, Checkov, Scotty, and Bones (not necessarily like the originals, though) than actors based on who looked the part the most.
Do you know where I can find a torrent of the movie? Or do you at least have cam footage of the screening you can put on YouTube?

What other info can you share?

I can just confirm that complaining about Pegg's hairline, or Quinto's earlobes for another example, seems like very superficial complaints (both literally and metaphorically). What leads you to believe I know anything else? I never said that I saw their performances - just that it is unfair to judge the actors based on only a poster intended to partially obscure their appearance. They should be judged on their acting. Since we haven't seen their acting, it is illogical to judge them at this stage. Even by his own standards, it is hard to judge them based on this poster, of all things.
You said that you would rather they had gotten actors who played the roles best, as opposed to just actors who looked like the original actors. So I'm wondering how you know that John Cho, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin delivered sub par performances.

You're splitting hairs. I didn't say Cho, Pegg, Urban, or Yelchin delivered sub par performances. The context was the post above me; I thought that was apparent. In any case, I explained my statement in my reply to your post. Are you arguing that my own post didn't mean what I clarified that it meant? :wtf:

I liked the first set of posters, they really conveyed the essence of those original characters.

Agreed, the first set was spot on. But this one? The only reason I was able to recognise Chekov is that the guy on the pic looks asian. Other than that, those guys don't look anything like the original actors.

I must say, I'm disappointed.

it just seems like they gathered up abuncha schmucks and are trying to dupe us into thinking they're as good as the tos cast

Tough crowd. Shessh.

I immediately get a Scotty vibe from Pegg.

Same here.

Me too. Looks like he means business.

It looks just like Pegg. I'm betting Urban will look better once we see the sideburns, which are cleary, clearly the focal point of that shot.

Chekov looks a bit odd though.

Once we get the hi-res versions we can pick the bones out of this thing properly, but it looks good to me at the moment.

That is exactly what they did. Well done, Beyerstein.

The lines of the uniforms reminds me a lot of the away team outfits from "The Cage"

Dunno why...

[EDIT: You'll want to host a copy of that on your own web space. It's substituting an 'Access Denied' image and converting to a direct link hasn't seemed to help it. Maybe a link to the page on which the image in question is found? - M']

Eric Cheung, you might want to change that to a link or host the image on your own webspace or a file-sharing site. Or you just use the URL of this one ... ;)

Is it me or did they forget to add the Starfleet deltas in their eyes?

You can almost feel the scottishness ozzing from Pegg in that photo......and I'm sure the phrase "Borgus Frat! is just on his lips....

Man i am looking forward too this movie.

I'm liking what I see in terms of uniform.

It ties in with what anthony said the other week about it being an grey/black undershirt with a coloured shirt over the top. Looks and sounds very much like the old design with new fabrics.

I can also vaguely see the delta logo woven into Cho's top so maybe it is in the fabric after all.

:techman:

What is it? A officer rank? Or an uniform characterized by engineer division?
I don´t see it in Spock

Very nice. I see Pegg as Scotty, apart from that wiry (almost short afro) haircut. Make up should've given him a short fringe hairpiece but hey ho.

Worryingly, I'm getting this weird Voyager vibe from the posters... which I'm at a loss to explain. Something about the turtle necks or maybe the colours that come to mind, instead of TOS.

I have to say when I looked at that photo I had, no idea who was who, and if shown it without knowing what it was would have no idea it from from Star Trek at all.

Who knows? They may yet turn out to be "schmucks".

However, I can't tell just from looking at a picture. They're actors, not magazine models.

Not as effective as the first poster. Someone should be smiling in this thing. Probably Pegg I guess. It's just too much having everybody so grim looking. It also bothers me how it seems everyone aside from Urban, looks to be leaning into the shot as to not have their faces cropped. It's like they're looking out of little windows. Very strange.
